Updated the PLEX app on my LG OLED (model OLED65CXPTA) via the LG Content Store and now it will not find my local server. I have rebooted server, uninstalled/reinstalled app on smart tv and still no joy, cycled the tv numerous times. Rolled back server clients, and back to the latest and everytime it worked fine with all other devices.
Server still works in every aspect with all other devices on my network (mobile devices, laptop, desktop, chromecast etc).
Fault only occurred since updating app on smart tv.
How to I roll back the update, or will you release another patch?
Please help
What are secure connection settings set to on server? in the app is it set to allow insecure connections (if you servers secure connections is off)
do you mean the LG app?
( as side note if you don’t need IPv6 I would disable that)
This issue, (manual) server connection not working on LG WebOS, has been a problem since Early Access. It has been reported by me and others, but after the latest update, it is impossible to roll back. Please re-enable the option to roll back (leave Early-Access). It would be much appreciated by many.
If you really want to discontinue the “old” version, please make sure this issue is solved before.
Where did @Dodgy_Bob say he was using manual connections? Why are you needing manual connections?
To be clear I am asking so i can understand and i can more easily stress to devs how important it is so hopefully they can fix it faster
He didn’t, but as he is having problems that look very similar to mine, and the fact he is asking to re-enable roll back as in the previous version he didn’t have this problem (like me), my guess is the cause of his problems may well be the same as mine. Also, as you are a Plex employee, you might have the ability to help us out if you receive several complaints from enough users.
I don’t think changing/tweaking some settings on the user side can fix this.
As I have a “double-NAT” setting, with manual connections I could connect to my local server.
Yes, it’s set to “On same network as server”.
By the way, I have the previous version on my other tv with the exact same settings, that one still working fine as usual.
are your server and tv on different subnets then? like they are connected to different routers? One of the devs just tested on his system and manually connections worked so i want to see if we can recreate your double-nat to see how that affects it.
This is my setup:
WAN

router LAN 192.168.18.1

router LAN 192.168.18.2 LG TV LG TV

PC running plex server 192.168.1.1
With “XPlay” there are no problems finding the server, even with a VPN running (but that app has other unrelated issues). Also I tried an app called “Emby”, also no problems, but I like the look, feel and features of Plex much more, so I really hope you are able to solve this so I can stick with you guys and perhaps even get a Plex Pass.
@BartVdeC Do you have the IP of your TV listed in the server network setting “IP allowed without auth…” (I’m told it should be to use manual server connections)
Never had that, didn’t cause any problems. Tried adding it, but doesn’t make a difference. As said, previous version on my other LG TV still working problem free.
I’m having the exact same issue. Wife updated the app on our LG B7 last night and now I cannot connect to the server. Works fine on all of our other devices. Tried all the usual troubleshooting steps…
So I just added my tv’s IP address to the list of IPs that don’t need to authenticate and it fixed it. What a buggy experience…
both are setup to allow insecure connections
I have tried both, manual and auto, both with the same disappointing result
yes, both server and smart tv are setup to allow insecure connections
hey did you do this in the server settings via a PC/web interface?
If you mean the Networks Allowed without Auth setting. Yes it is in the network settings of the server
So you were using manual as well? Edit: I see you tried both manual and auto
