LG WebOS app not seeing local server, but seeing remote servers

Not really, my mates tv is Samsung and cannot play from my server.

My LG has issues both latest and non-early access, but can see his server…

The current app might be a bit rubbish, but is certainly doesn’t explain my issues

same issue here :frowning: while my Samsung TV (on the same network) can connect, my LG OLED TV can’t.

I have an LG WebOS TV too and I’m experiencing tha same issue. I have set the local IP + port the “Manual Servers” menu but no luck. The Media Server Status keep saying “This server is offline or unreachable”, while the same server with the Remote connection flag it’s correctly connected.

This prevents to play 4k movies, since I don’t have enough Internet bandwidth to upload and then download using the Remote connection. :frowning:

Try reserving your servers LAN IP in your router and make sure your server/ Secure Connections set to Preferred.
In LG Plex app you also need to allow insecure connections on Local network.

Same issue. LGTV, updated Plex app on the TV. Followed this:

Manual Server
Add your Server LAN IP address and port 32400

Advanced settings.
Allow insecure connections - on same network
Prefer insecure connections - on same network

Server settings/Network
Secure connections - Preferred

Still no good.

Note that the Plex Server is reporting that all is well-and-good for accessing within my private network. Also, for what it’s worth our ■■■■■■ Sony Bravia smartTV Plex app has the same problems (I know about the app store mambo, accessing through Opera, and that it’s a doomed path).

Pretty frustrating considering that for years it’s worked flawlessly. No response from Plex in this thread either…good thing they’re in Los Gatos; maybe I’ll just walk over there and say “pretty please” or give me my Plex Pass money back.

What model LG TV Please? HD or UHD

UHD - OLED55B8SLC

Goddammit, why do I need to add a complete sentence to a reply for information.

That model should work perfectly, you need to look more carefully at your settings as I have that TV bigger cousin

Thanks, that’s helpful

I’m pretty sure it’s server side, as the tv used to connect to the server fine when it was windows. I created a new VM, with a fresh image, and the tv couldn’t access that either.

I’m going to spin up another instance on my windows machine and see if the tv can access that.

Anyone experiencing the issue still having problems? Because I do, I ma having the exact same issue as some of you described here.

Alla other devices (nVidia Shield TV, mobile phone, laptop and desktop computer) can reach my plex server OK, but the official Plex app for LG WebOS cannot.

So it’s definitely something serverside or a combination of official webOS app and sever that still haven’t been fixed in 2 moths…?

So the issues for me was a bandwidth problem.
For some reason, even if the client/server were in the same network, the server applied the bandwidth restrictions set in the “Remote access” panel.

To fix it, I whitelisted the local IP addresses of all the clients, and bom! Everything works

This is a screenshot of the server dashboard before/after applying that setting:

As you can see the issue was present on EVERY local client.

LG 43UK6300PUE, but it’s irrelevant. None of these suggestions work.

FWIW I’m a former System Admin quite comfortable with networks at a deep level. The fact that this app no longer works easily makes it completely useless for the Olds I have to support, and makes it very tiresome for me. I’m just going back to my home rolled server.

It should work with that Tele, there is an app reset in the settings. Then power cycle from the power source.

Not hard… :upside_down_face:

Same issue here,
From my apple tv everything works fine. But my lg 65CX fails to connect to my local server

Did you ever get resolution on your issue? I’m having the exact same issue.

I did not, although I did at least get a plexpass refund. Clearly the refund is easier than technical support :unamused:

My next step is to create a transient account, sign into the tv with that, and see if I can connect that way.

Thanks for the heads up

Same problem here…

New TV UN7310. I have change all parameters and no sucess to connect.

Hi guys,
I run into the same problem and I think I’ve found a workaround.

Plex media server version: 1.21.2.3939
Plex version: 5.7.1
WebOS version: 5.2.0

Open Plex on TV, go to profile settings and click on ‘Leave early access’. You will be downgraded to 4.29.9 version which works fine with my local server.
