I’ve been trying to reproduce this issue, but so far I’ve been unable to do so.
I’ve tried playing 1080p and 4k HEVC files (the 4k is direct streaming because the audio isn’t supported), but it’s played without showing buffering at all (30+ minutes in).
Info about my setup:
WebOS 4
Both the server and TV are other Ethernet to a 1 gbit switch.
A popup appears while playing that says buffering, it appears for only ca 0.5 seconds. There is no hitch in playback at all. This problem appeared in the latest update.
I noticed in the other thread some folks mentioned that their server was defaulting to Remote and using that quality, which I believe would line up with what I’m seeing (720p default).
Not sure what you mean by your second question, in settings I changed the Local setting to Original but it doesn’t obey it. Once I change it while a particular item is playing, it works properly.
On “Settings -> Main -> Allow fallback to insecure connections on same network” fixed that problem for me. After that it shows my server “Nearby” in the status menu. Before that change it was “Remote”.
I note the logs contain my email address and other stuff I’d rather not post publicly. If I attach them to a post is this visible to everyone on the forum? Nothing about this is mentioned in any of the links below:
I have a different problem. When trying to play 5.1 audio music encoded in wma files, I have buffering forever and this ends up with error 3016 “media error”.
Before update I have never had any problems with playing 5.1 music.
Started happening only with the latest Plex update. Love the new UI, but almost certain it’s related. Happens to many different videos (all so far afaict), frequently and for a split second each time.
Ouch. I was assuming this was limited to WebOS, had no idea it was across the board. I guess in that sense we’re lucky we have XPlay on LG, it’s the only way I’ve been able to watch anything for the last few days.
Thought daughter had meddled with settings on LG 4K Oled TV using Plex app resulting in family argument. Glad I stumbled onto this forum after wasting my time resetting TV apps and devices along with checking hard drives on Synology server. Forced Update Useless and a complete waste of time - No direct connection to server on LAN - buffering - TV magic remote wheel no longer works for screen scrolling etc etc.To think I was recently praising the Plex system to friends and family. PLEX NEED to roll back to old version to help keep users and reduce bad reviews online.
Have an LG 4k tv with webos3.5, running all movies as original quality.
I also have a major buffering problem with 4k movies, it runs for about 70 seconds, then it buffers, runs 70 seconds, buffers. and it keeps on going like that.
The old plex player just played the movie without any problem og constant buffering.
However i don’t have any problems with 1080p at all.
I’m having buffering problems as well, with both LG Plex app and XPlay app. I don’t know what changed because it never had issues before but it’s all broken. My 4K videos buffer constantly and my 1080p videos buffer constantly as well. 4K was working perfectly fine before and never had this issue. What ever you guys did Plex, it is ruining my experience with your application. I paid pretty good money for a functioning product that use to work well. Now its all broken.
My sever program is running on a Unraid server with the office Plex docker and an LG C7 television. Plex runs great on AppleTV 4K with both Plex app and Infuse. Thanks.
