Libraries Empty

Server Version#: 1.24.2.4973
Player Version#: web application
DSM: 7.x
Hello All, I am in over my head at this point. I will be brief and state exactly what I believe was the order in which things happened. My current state says my libraries are empty, but I will get to where I am now.

2 Nights ago I reinstated a iptv sub. I already had most of what I needed in terms of xTeve and the guide info. I just needed to update the password and username, so I did and all worked after some weird behavior. My plex server wasn’t showing up at all, so I decided to update my DSM to 7.x and update plex server to the newest version. After doing so I was able to get my server to be detected again, and was able to easily setup the dvr.

The following morning (yesterday) I noticed the guide stopped working (it said it could not connect to my server). Which was odd because I had access to all my media, and I could even click on previously watched channels and it would work.

After noticing it couldn’t connect I then removed the dvr and started again. It would then populate the playlist, and literally show me the channels etc in the setup, but the same issue occured.

I then noticed it said I couldn’t connect outside my network, so I refreshed this.

I then tried the DVR again, but this time my media server was not found at all.

After this, I tried getting it connected, tried adding more rules in the router and ds918+ etc.
It didnt go anywhere, so I completely uninstalled plex media server from the synology.

After doing this, the server was not found still, so I removed it from the web interface. After doing so and restarting the Synology and restarting service, it had a new plex server with the same name, but it was empty.

Now I go and just start all over again, I go and add movies, I add tv shows, it shows the folders from my plex from the web interface, but it says the folders are empty.

I made sure for some reason that the folders were not wiped, and I also made sure the I had a user account for plex still, and I had access to my folders, and I do.

At this point, I am just confused and do not know what to do. I just want to start off with being able to access the files again, I don’t even care about accessing it outside my network for now.

Ok so I just removed permissions from plexmedia and re-added. I removed the folders and re-added on the server. So far it is promising, the movies are now appearing.

  1. Open Control Panel > Shared Folder and edit your Plex MEDIA folder/s. On the Permissions tab, change Local Users > System Internal User and disable all permissions for user PlexMediaServer and click on Save to close the Edit window. Reopen the Edit window and on the Permissions tab, change Local Users > System Internal User and set the permissions for user PlexMediaServer to R/W permissions and then click on Save to close the window again.

I’m not sure if you’re able to talk to the server yet?

I don’t think you are ???

If this is the case:

  1. Uninstall the package – KEEP option (which is the default action)
  2. Reinstall the package – use the “Plex Claim Token” option
    a. Click “Get Plex Claim token” link to get the token to use
    b. Paste that token back into the GUI window
  3. Complete installation.
  4. When it’s complete (about 30 seconds longer than normal), it will confirm it’s claimed the server for you.
