Libraries Won't Load Media from Folders

Unfortunately, my photos and video libraries, at least, are now showing as empty. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled. After reinstall, my login info and all my old libraries (with folder references) were still there, so it clearly wasn’t a full uninstall. Next, I changed the Photos library to an empty folder, waited for activity to complete, changed the Photos library to my full library (with > 35,000 photos), waited for activity to complete (~45 minutes), looked for Photos and saw, “This library is currently empty.” Before all this, I tried a number of the suggestions here and in FAQs. How can I get this fixed?

Thank you, very much, for finding that and those suggestions, @trumpy81! Is there a way to wipe everything out and start over? That seems much easier. If not, would I follow the Linux steps for my Synology NAS?
