Library menu missing

Hi all, I used Plex on an old Mac without any issues but since it no longer supports the app (it’s too old :slight_smile: ), I was about to set up Plex on my current Mac but I can’t figure out why the library menu is missing when I open it. Please, anyonw could help me?

The funny thing is that when I first opened it, I wasn’t asked to add a library.

Make sure the app is signed into your plex account.

Did you disable all Online Media sources in your Plex account?

Click on the Settings icon at the top
then on the left side under
Plex - General - (Show Advanced) - “Reset Customizations”

I did disable online media sources.
I can’t pin my libraries to the sidebar because I can’t see them. When I click More on the left menu I just get this:

What happens if you click in the upper, right corner.
Do you see menu items named ‘Account’, ‘Switch User…’, or ‘Sign Out’?

If you don’t, then this app is not signed into your Plex account.

If you do, does it show the same user name as in your other plex apps?

But when I used Plex on my other old Mac I didn’t have an account. I just signed up recently and wanted to start from scratch, that’s why I found it funny that I wasn’t asked to set up a location for my library at the beginning.

Is it the same account you use on your other plex apps?

Since I’ve reinstalled on my tv yes, it’s the same account.

Is it possible, that your server is (still) using a different plex account instead?
Please use the web app and access your server settings. You should find the information under
Settings - [Server name] - General

My server was my external hard drive, do you think that’s it?
I checked the settings, but no server is listed, I can’t set it up…

Also: when I click on + Your Media, I get the “Download Plex Media Server” message, is that normal?

You can’t install the server on a mere hard drive.
Or was it a Drobo?

I think you already had an account. You just forgot about it. Your server is still running under this account. And that is the reason why this new player doesn’t have access to it.
I took a look at your account (the one you are using to access this forum). TGhere is no server signed into it.
Can you look at yome older email accounts, if you find some mailings from Plex, maybe even a clue what your old password might have been?

If you can’t remember and you don’t find anything, I’m afraid you’ll have to perform this procedure to bring the server into your new, current plex account:

Yes, you can do that. But make double sure that you delete the right account.
I recommend you to use an ‘incognito’ web browser window to do it.
