Media Libraries disappeared

Hello,

I recently subscribed to Plex (a friend shared his library with me) and figured out how to create my own music and video libraries.

The attached photo shows what my sidebar looked like as of two days ago.

My libraries have suddenly disappeared and it seems that I cannot created new libraries (I’m not a tech nerd, though).

Plex does not seem to understand that i have a yearly pass. It keeps on encouraging me to subscribe.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

And a bit of feedback on the forum settings:
For the love of God and data protection laws, please don’t automatically create a forum user name that is actually that person’s email address!!!
I only noticed after I had posted and had to delete & re-post my topic. Thanks.

Your own server “phoned in” to plex.tv last 17 days ago.
Can you confirm that it is actually running still?

Is there a Plex logo in the task tray area of your Windows desktop?
If there is, does it remain there when you move your mouse pointer over it?

Hi Otto,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes to both of your questions.

However, if I try to open Plex via my desktop, nothing happens.

I have been accessing Plex via the web (because it can’t be launched via the desktop) so it is indeed possible that i last phoned into Plex 17 days ago.

What does that mean exactly?
What are you doing when you try to launch it?

If I go to Plex via the Windows start menu, or the link on my desktop, and select ‘open’.
Nothing happens when I do that.

This is only supposed to bring the plex logo into your task tray, i.e. to start the server.
What happens if you open this address with your web browser http://127.0.0.1:32400/web ?

Thanks, Otto.
This takes me to a page that used to show up when i first joined Plex, and when I sign in I get the attached message.

When I then press ‘sign in’ again (as there is no other option), the message briefly changes to ‘you have successfully signed in’ and then after a few seconds it returns to the ‘there was an error signing in’ message.

This is why I initially started to access Plex via the web after subscribing.

Which web browser are you using?
Do you have 3rd-party add-ins installed in this browser? (e.g. AdBlock, uBlock, etc.pp.)
Do you have VPN software installed?
Could you retry with your web browser in “privacy”/“incognito” mode?

Please tell your web browser not to discard all cookies and data of the website plex.tv when you close it.
Try an alternate web browser, like Google Chrome for instance.

I’ve just tried logging in with MS Edge and it worked. My libraries are, however, still not visible.
If I go into ‘users and sharing’ it says that I am sharing two libraries with my friend, but I cannot see or access my libraries.

But at least we are making progress with my login

tap on your Windows key once and start typing in regedit
this should find the app named regedit.exe
start it
on the left side unfold/open the branch
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server
When you’ve arrived in Plex Media Server, on the right side, look in the key PlexOnlineMail.
Does it contain the identical email address which you were also using to log into your Plex account before?

I went ahead and launched it, and yes the email address is the same that I use to log into my Plex account

Please do give me a shout if there is anything else I can do to help establish what the issue might be. Thanks for all your help.

Yes, that is the right app!

Now that you’ve found the right registry branch, please perform this procedure:

Use Edge instead of Firefox when it comes to the step “Load the Local Version of Plex Web pp”

Hi Otto,

I’ve done all of this and also claimed my libraries. Everything seems to be running and is accessable.

Thank you for your time, expertise and patience! Have a good weekend.

WOT

Glad to hear it.
Happy plexing!
