Hi i am use truenas scale and when i first install it with plex it works fine all my media upload to the library but then after that any new media i add to the folder it will not update to the library. It dose it every time i have reinstall truenas 3 times and every time the first time works fine them after that it goes back to doing the same thing.
Thank you for any help
How are you trying to let Plex rescan the library folder for updates?
- are you manually triggering the scan (e.g. from the library’s context menu:
⋮>Scan Library Files)? - have you configured your server to automatically scan if there’s a change to the files in your library folder (
Settings>[Server Name]>Library>Scan my library automatically)? - have you configured your server to scan your files periodically (
Settings>[Server Name]>Library>Scan my library periodically)? - something else?
Hi thank you for the reply i have done all 3 of those and still no luck. Plex just doesn’t seem to recognise any changes even if i make a new folder in the library and move movies that already in the library it loses it and can’t find it. For e.g. in my comic movie library i create a folder iron man and put the 3 movie in it the library will not recognise it until i move it back to the original folder. So it seems any change it will not recognise. Unless i do a fresh in install of truenas. But if i use Windows to connect to my hard drives all the files are there just plex can’t find it
Your server logs might show a clue on what’s going on/wrong.
Please verify your server is configured to have debug logging enabled and verbose logging disabled… then trigger a scan and wait some minutes before pulling your logs.
hi sorry its been awhile to get back to you i was a way at work and just got home i checked the debug and enabled it i am not sure what i am looking for but i will past in what it comes up with every time i do a scan.

Can you check the actual server logs (see link → highlighted text)… this snippet of yours seems to be from the web client (player).
i am not sure what logs to get,is this the logs you want
- Go to Settings > Manage > Troubleshooting in Plex Web App
- Click the Download Logs button
i have just in the console plex sever log and when i try to update it just say [Req#19fb8] AutoUpdate: no updates available with no errors
Correct… that’s the server logs – the console will show server log information too but it’s more focused on monitoring stuff “in real-time” (not for a more detailed troubleshooting).
i had a look at that and all it say is that it looking for data then no data find. no errors show up. its just dosent make since that when i first install truenas and setup plex it finds everything but then after it want update or find any new stuff. even after i delete plex and reinstall it still only pick up the same stuff. so far the only way i can find to update it is to wipe truenas and start again,i do think it could be to do with the library config folder wont update but i cant delete that to try
