Library Problem - TV Show Detection

Hi, I’ve a problem when updating a TV library on a backup PLEX server.

Let me explain:

I have 2 PLEX Server pointing to the same medias (they are installed on a NAS). The idea is to have a PLEX Server high availability.
Let’s give them names PLEX1 and PLEX2.

Telling that, I do not understand why on my PLEX2, a TV SHOW library, “The Expanse” (season 1 and season 2), is not detected on PLEX2 and is correctly detected on PLEX1. I can’t see any difference between configuration of PLEX1 and PLEX2.

I can fix manually PLEX2, by correcting the library, then it is detected as TV SHOW The Expanse.

But Each time there is a library update, the Metadatas are lost, the names of this TV Show is lost. Only on PLEX2.

On the Disk (NAS), the files are organised:

\TVSHOWS\The Expanse\S01…
\TVSHOWS\The Expanse\S02…

When the library is updated on PLEX2, PLEX gives name “S01” and “S02” instead of “The Expanse”.

I ve a big number of TV Shows on my NAS, same directories organisation, and all is correct except on PLEX2 for “The Expanse”.

Why PLEX2 does not keep my manual update ?
Why PLEX2 does not detect “The Expanse” TV Show ?
Why PLEX1 does not have any problem ?

I would take a look at the order that the metadata agents are using for each one.
I would be willing to bet that the agent is different at the top of the list on Plex1 than it is on Plex2.
Also confirm that you created a “tv shows” category on plex2 and not a “home or other Movies” category.

\TVSHOWS\The Expanse\S01…
\TVSHOWS\The Expanse\S02…

  1. please give the full path including an example of the file names.

  2. Have you confirmed, that your library is pointing to TVSHOWS and not to TVSHOWS\The Expanse ?

  3. Make sure to change the order of your metadata agents.
Go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
    Repeat the same under
    Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase

Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie

Hi SiscoPlex and thanks

  1. order of the metadata agents
I just checked, it is identical, for Series:

  2. your bet:
again, it seems to me it is the same agent at the top of the list on Plex1 & Plex2, if I check correctly:

  3. I confirm that I created a “tv shows” category on plex2 and not a “home or other Movies” category, see below the screen is identical on PLEX1 and PLEX2:

Hi OttoKerner and thanks,

  1. the exact full Path on the NAS are:
    \CYCYNOLOGY\Series\The Expanse\S01\ for Season 1
    \CYCYNOLOGY\Series\The Expanse\S02\ for Season 2

I give the precision that I have other series including “blanks” in their names
(ex: \CYCYNOLOGY\Series\Stranger Things\S01)

  1. In fact, My Library “Series” is pointing to :

  2. for this advice, I will follow it and let you know

Thanks !!!

I did the point 3, at a moment I thought It was OK because I’ve seen the Name of the serie appearing…
But finally it failed again.

I think I found something strange.

When I try to “associate” manually, I have the following screen:

as you can read, the Title is wrong… Of course, The Title is not S01 but “the Expanse”.

When I fix the title manually then the update is correct.

But on the next automatic refresh of this library, the problem is coming back…

I am becoming crazy.

I give you the same screen on the other PLEX on which all is correct:

Posting the last sceencopy I see a difference in the Path between PLEX1 and PLEX2.

So I reconfigured the same PATH on PLEX2 than on PLEX1 and now all is correct.

I think there is a bug in my particular case, because the path is correct, even if it is different (both paths are equivalent in fact).

Thanks for your help,

The name of your season folder is supposed to be Season 01, not just S01
And you still didn’t show the file names.

After correcting file and path names, you may have to perform the Plex Dance to remove the previous “mismatch” completely from the Plex database.
