I just set up a Plex server on my Mac Book Pro. It did a great job finding my music and moves and the desktop client works as I would expect it too. I bought a one-month Plex Pass to try out some of the other features and the first thing I did was get the Plex App on my XB1. It starts just fine, finds the Plex Server just fine, but the main screen is blank with the word library in the top left corner but none of my library's contents displayed.
I've tried restarting the server and the console. the XB1 shows up as a connected device on the server, but still no joy.
I am signed in. I am not connected externally to Plex. I didn't think I needed to do that bit as it looked to be talking very specifically about accessing the server from outside my local network:
You have successfully signed your server in to Plex, but we were unable to reach it from outside your network.
If you would like to enable this now, you will need to configure your router or firewall to allow Plex to contact your server. Please refer to our Connecting a Server article for more information.
As to the second question, yes, I did enter the pin presented by the XB1 on the plex site.
I would suggest going into PMS - Settings / Devices and if the XB1 is listed there delete it (click red X).
Then go back and relaunch the plex app on the XB1, it should ask for the PIN again and reauthorize the unit now that your signed in and connected on your PMS
OK, the update worked. But I'm back to believing this maybe a stupid n00b issue. Just before I updated the server, I created a new library for videos, and the moment I restarted everything, the video library shows up on the XB1. However, the music library does not. Does the XB1 app not handle music?
Thanks! It turns out it was a stupid n00b question as I started with the music library, which is far more important to me than the video library. Since the best speakers in my office are the ones hooked to my XB1, I'm desperately looking for a reliable way to play music on the XB1. SofaPlay works brilliantly when it works, but often doesn't work, and the Media Player has many weird issues of it's own (like starting to play a track before the previous track is done).
