Lip sync on SHIELD Pro 2019

I haven’t noticed it anymore lately (on latest public release)

I still noticed it as recently as last night.

Yes, we have been, but it’s proving very difficult to track down

Thanks for the update! Let us know if you need anything to help diagnose.

Still there, it might have gotten a tiny bit better overall. The trick of going back once does the trick most of the time.

It’s so, so annoying.

wow, this is a 1+ year bug???

I’m not so sure if there’s still developers working on Plex…

This is still an issue as of today. This is a blocker for me moving the wife off of TiVo. It also makes the DVR functionality effectively useless unless you turn on commercial detection and removal. Seems like a pretty critical bug. But I guess there’s arcade functionality that nobody will use to develop and b-grade video content to license.

Same problem here on a 2019 Shield Pro. Not sure when it started happening but it’s pretty much constant. Please fix, this device is now useless!

I see this problem too, HDR content that has HD audio is always out of sync while playing the same thing on Kodi it is perfectly fine.
It’s a shame that I have to switch over to Kodi just to play certain media files.

This is a consistently reproducible behavior on Android TV clients. I can get it to stop by turning off Device Preferences → Display & Sound → Advanced sound settings → Dolby audio processing. Unfortunately, I need that option for handling certain Dolby options on some of my TV/audio setups. I’m happy to provide logs or further testing points for devs if someone will reach out.

Any updates? I’m still experiencing the issue. It’s unwatchable.

turning off processing doesn’t do anything for me.

sad thing is if i use kodi’s plex plugin it works just fine.

this is strictly an issue with their android tv client.

Any updates? Can confirm lip sync still gets misaligned during timeshift.

I am about to be done with Plex because of the Lip Sync issues on the Shield. I have reproducible demos where the audio drops for a few seconds, but the video keeps playing, then the audio starts and is out of sync. If I play the file in VLC on my windows computer no sync issue, if I play it in the windows app no sync issue, if I play it in Kodi on the Shield no sync issue. It really is destroying my plex experience, and the wife is really tired of me fiddling trying to fix it… :frowning:

If anyone from Plex wants my reproducible information let me know…

For me only seems to happen with DV movies. normally I get this issue after 1min or so of playing, playback does a stutter, audio drops out, then comes back out of sync.
After turning Dolby processing option off I have still had it happen, but much more rarely, usually get 15 mins or so before it happens, then I stop & restart playback to fix

Also occurs when timeshifting for me. New Nvidia shield pro. Also just randomly freezes often and immediately fixed by backing out and resuming, however it’s super annoying to do 2-3x per night.

Would you be able to supply a sample video that reproduces the problem?

I’ve been looking into the issue and haven’t yet found a solution, or why the problem is occurring.

A quick workaround is to seek backwards once, this should resolve the audio / video syncing issues.

Exactly the same issue. Only on DV.

I have this issue with most videos. If I fast forward there’s a 90% chance it will screw up the audio and then make me rewind.

We all know about the work around, the issue is that it shouldn’t be there. I can provide any and all logs, etc… to help target this but the fact I can’t do basic searching on a video without a workaround is a pretty frustrating problem considering it’s essential functionality.

I appreciate the help!
