Lip sync on SHIELD Pro 2019

Is this still an issue? audio plays fine for about 15-30 seconds then there is a skip and its way out of sync… this only happens with any 720p content. but does not do it on my original shield. does it have something to do with AI upscaling?

This is more when you fast forward it always goes out of sync until you rewind.

I do not for the life of me understand how this isn’t a huge priority. This is wayyyyyyy more important than gaming features that practically no one wants.

This directly affects the usability and experience for android tv users (which I would imagine is a decent market share of the Plex “streaming stick” userbase).

As I mentioned recently, this is still being actively investigated. I’m currently testing some changes that have recently landed to see if they help with this

Getting this on the Chromecast with Google TV, assuming it’s the same thing with both being android tv apps

Still experiencing this. I switched to the Plex-on-Kodi many months ago to fix this. Since Kodi updated to v19, Plex-on-Kodi is broken now too. Not having a bug report too to track is also annoying. The core piece of Plex is watching videos, yet this is broken. Watching local media should be the highest priority for the support staff to fix. This thread is over a year old. Ridiculous! I’m just frustrated with Plex and the course that they have chosen to take. I personally don’t use DVR, Music, Games, etc. I just to watch my media that I’ve digitized from my discs. This is the reason I went with Plex. The Nvidia Shield is supposed to be the premium Plex client. Sure does not seem that way.

I am still seeing this issue as well. Been happening for a long time. Audio will be slightly off from video.

Occurs when timeshifting, specifically fast forwarding. Doesnt happen everytime. May depend on how “fast” you press the FF button? Most of the time a simple 10 sec skip back fixes it. So far this has been lower on my bug priority list since it has a pretty simple fix, but I am surprised it hasnt been addressed yet.

Using Nvidia shield as server and player.

Have you tried the most recent version from a couple of days ago? I think it’s version 8.16. Seems to be better for me in the audio sync department.

It’s still happening to me. Yesterday we were watching standard DTS passthrough and happened about a dozen times. My wife and I are annoyed by this. It also happened with just pausing and resuming as well.

Confirmed still an issue for me as well.

Also wanted to add - in addition to lip sync issues when timeshifting, sometimes also there will be no sound at all. Again - a quick 10 sec rewind fixes it.

I’ll add my name to the list. This has been happening for some time on lots of recordings, especially older codecs. Sometimes, forcing it to transcode will help, but there are some shows that will play fine locally but the minute it’s put through Plex the video and audio is slightly out of sync.

I’ll add my name too. I occasionally have the audio desync with Plex (most of the times after I shut it down / put it to sleep). Not with other apps btw. When I restart my Shield it fixes the problem. Sometimes choosing the ’ MATCH FRAME RATE (BETA)’ function it also fixes the problem.
So far nothing else seems to fix the problem except restarting the entire device. Ofcourse it is nice to have a “fix” but it’s kinda annoying to do every single time.

Here same issue too. Audio is delayed slightly of video. Hard to notice but enough to drive me mad. And ruined watching anything on plex…

Latest plex media player used with Nvidia shield connected to lg cx and hdmi arc to Sony soundbar HT-S350

Does anyone know if using a remote plex server can introduce audio latency as well?

I have a good connection to the server though. Never buffers or anything.

Seems like the issue is gone for me. I had that very slight constant audio delay, that other people described in here. Turns out, the default A/V sync (the one with the jumping ball) was set to non-zero in the SHIELD’s settings, seemingly by default.

Changing that to zero fixed the issue for me.

The issue was never constant for me. It only occurred occasionally when time-shifting Live TV or TV recordings. Since it is limited to time-shifting within the PLEX app, I would not think any shield settings are related.

I tried the same thing a long time ago but quickly realised two things; all other apps became out of sync instead and every now and then plex would become out of sync.

So… not such a good solution unfortunately (for me).

Yep. While my constant lip sync issue is gone now, I still get the occasional desync, especially when advancing to the next episode from the postplay screen and the current one’s still playing.

Waiting patiently for a fix to this persistent issue! Happens nearly 100% on my Shield TV Pro (Win10 Server, all Cat5 wired) when FF during playback. Audio sync mismatch can be as long as ~3 seconds. Yes, a quick RW brings audio back into sync, but should not need to do this.

I suffer from this issue as well with my 2 month old Nvidia Shield Pro. Doesn’t look like anyone has found a workaround yet?

Windows 10 based plex server connected via cat6 to gigabit FIOS router > gigabit FIOS service > Nvidia Shield Pro.

Don’t have this issue with the same exact plex server when streaming to a 4k Firestick or 4k Roku Ultra.

I should add the files I’m streaming are 90% 720p and below, some are very small files, less than 200mb tv shows, issue persists regardless of the size/resolution of the file being played.

Is anyone working on this bug?
