Live TV and DVR no longer working after power failure

Had a power outage at our house last night for about 5 seconds. Live Tv & DVR has not worked since. Continued to get error until I removed LiveTV and DVR and tried to re install. Completely uninstalled plex server and app multiple times. No luck.

Now it will not recognize my HD Homerun tuner. Using a window 10 pc as my server. Can use the HD Homerun app and view channels just fine.

Any ideas?

Had you set up your HDHR with a static DHCP IP?

Try using the HD HomeRun Utility to configure Tuner.

I don’t believe so. just the basic hdhr quatro tuner plugged in via ethernet cable.

You certainly should not have needed to uninstall your Plex server.

Are you able to view live TV using the HD Homerun app (not Plex)?

Yes, no problem viewing TV content using HD Homerun app (not plex).

That is what is so frustrating.

Go to Settings > Live TV & DVR > Set Up Plex DVR and it just spins.

I have tried manual using IP address and it just errors out as well.

A couple ideas that are just shots in the dark:

  • What version of the Plex Server are you running? There we a couple versions in the 1.16 range that had DVR setup issues that was supposed to be fixed on more recent versions.

  • You said you completely uninstalled Plex. Just sanity checking, did that include manually deleting the “Plex Media Server” directory under the %LOCALAPPDATA% directory? (Instructions here.) If not possibly the database corrupted when the power went out. By design an uninstall/reinstall doesn’t remove/recreate the database. Here are Plex’s instructions for checking for and repairing a corrupt database (or restore a backup.)

Those failing, post logs? Under Settings -> General make sure “Debug” logging is on, “Verbose” logging is off. Restart Plex, wait 6 minutes for things to calm down. Try to set up the DVR, wait a couple minutes, then download logs from Settings -> Troubleshooting and post the zip file here.

Really struggling with this. Here is the log. I hope it helps.Plex Media Server Logs_2019-10-28_20-49-51.zip (2.3 MB)

Can you answer @hokierulz’s questions and did you try the suggestions?

Please confirm if you have run through the database corruption verification steps I previously posted. A power outage can cause database corruption. Did you have to reset or change anything else on your network when the power outage occurred?

Are you running IPv6 on your network? I’m not a log reading expert like a Plex bod, but it looks like Plex is trying to find your HDHomerun tuner (am I correct that is what it is?) on IPv6. Go to your HDHR web interface or your router and see what the IP address is for your HDHR. It should be on the same subnet as your Plex computer. Is this the case? (e.g. are the first three octets the same, such as 192.168.1.x, where only the “x” is different?)

Try turning off IPv6 support in Plex Web at Settings -> Network -> Click on “Show Advanced” button, then uncheck “Enable Server Support for IPv6” and click on “Save”. Restart PMS and try to set up your DVR again. If it fails, collect logs again and repost.

same thing happened to me a while back, go to http://my.hdhomerun.com/ and re scan your channels
