Hope an updated and consolidated list of key bugs that are impacting many folks trying to use Live TV and EPG with the New Experience client. I’m happy to maintain this list, just ask people to add anything else that should be included below.
Nothing new here, same issues with previous versions.
1 - EPG data not showing and data for future days (current day is fine)
2 - Playback error constantly "Error Occurred The operation couldn’t be completed. (CoreMediaErrorDomain error 1718449215), for me about 80% of the attempts at playback fail because of this. No issues at all with playback with Plex client on Mac or Apple TV.
3 - When playback does happen, I’m often left without any audio, once again doesn’t happen with Mac or Apple TV.
4 - Picture-in-Picture button still doesn’t do anything, so no PIP is available.
Here are key UX issues that I hope can be considered also as functionality improvements:
Ability to scroll EPG timeline (left to right) with touch, rather than having to hit the small (and fixed time) left and right buttons. This is fairly common UX, up and down is fine for channels, so left and right does make sense.
Ability to disable Live TV preview, it is buggy and leads to playback when not intended. It also takes up a third of the screen on an iPhone and 1/4 of the screen on iPad, I’d rather see more EPG.
on iOS there is no longer a menu to edit recording, like to add extra time to/before the scheduled recording. This is crucial as often programs dont start/end when he guide says they do (for example for sports if they have overtime that may add up to an hour to what the guide has allocated for the program).
The Mrs just accidentally updated the plex client on her iphone and can no longer watch live tv channels. What an absolute shambles. I suppose it would be too much to ask for an indication of when this is likely to be fixed, considering that’s all she uses it for?
Hmm, on iOS app and in Plex web app when I search it doesn’t even show the hits in live tv tab at the top so I can recorded it. I can literally see the listing in the program guide so it is there.
Question-how do I record a show (any interface will do) without manually finding where the show is in the guide and clicking it and clicking/touch to open it to click/touch record.
Others note iOS problems but my show searches for live tv don’t work anywhere? Is it just me maybe?
Searching the guide was broken in the last update. Apparently the latest beta fixes it. I’m holding out for the public release though, not that there’s much difference between public and beta releases recently; they both seem to introduce bugs that break functionality.
Let’s hope that the broken guide data issue, that I believe is impacting everyone is fixed…so it is worth searching the guide. Currently my Live TV is showing guide data for about 3 hours.
Works just fine on macOS and web. Has been this way since launch, not important enough to fix from what we can see.
