So what is the status of this feature? I checked for updates and found none, running Mac 1.25.6.5577 and not seeing anything new with up to date Mac and iOS Clients. Rebooting Server and Client did not change result.
Just curious, thanks.

It’s only available on tv clients at the moment, that’s probably why. I believe they mentioned this in their blog post.
I like the new TV guide but it seems a little buggy. I lost my favorites list twice while trying to edit it. When moving the TV guide location on the left bar it wasn’t displaying properly on my android TV box. When I select a show and then click the back button to return to the guide it starts at the top of the guide instead of positioning the cursor at the show I am currently watching.
It is missing the ability to sort or filter by “HD Channels Only” like some of the older guides have. This option should at least be added to the tab for my local tv channels. Being able to sort by ATSC 3.0 channels would also be nice.
Overall I think it is a nice improvement over the old guide.
You’re really wanting to give way too much credit on the “innovation” Plex has had. The problem is that they have had foundational issues to solve before they could even dare move forward with the development stages of the OTA DVR rollout and it’s basic feature set. TiVo isn’t the same TiVo it once was, Channels has surpassed what Plex has done, and Windows Media Center is past its EOL and during that time, Plex has had to revamp its UI multiple times, has had to deal with a reassessment of the rollout of the Home page mechanism on the clients, has had a slew of problems with the OTA guide providers the past few years, oh, and still having issues having the ability to properly record sports events, I’d reckon that a portion of DVR users have not had a great or solid experience as we all had hoped for since its launch. We are all waiting on a more cohesive and solid experience and it’s just been taking sooo long. Yes, today we get something shiny and new, but there’s always something compromised.
My RokuTV on OS 10.5 with OTA guide received the same UI treatment, implementing both OTA channels and digital streaming Roku channels into an all in one experience BEFORE Plex released their version AND also has the ability to favorite channels too. Literally the only thing Roku hasn’t incorporated into its OS that Plex has is the DVR functionality. Yay for innovation.
Though I understand the logic and percieved benefit of combining the Live TV guides I question, given the problems with rollout, whether “the trip has been worth the journey”. After several hours of restarting, rebooting, updating, signing in/out, I finally got my OTA channels (via HD Homerun & Nvidia Pro) to show up as a live TV channel guide source in my Plex apps. Now I can play local OTA TV again BUT am have trouble with streaming (keeps bufferring and/or shutting down every few minutes no matter what TV or app I use, even when viewing remotely). I’ve decreased the video quality but am still having problems
I did not have any playback buffering problems prior to this Live TV guide update. Is this a Plex server or Nvidia Pro or ??? problem? Any suggestions and/or direction would be greatly appreciated.

…in reading my previous post, I should have been more clear that my buffering problems are on OTA live tv streaming only (via HD Homerun). All other video playback options are fine (including Plex Live TV).
Just wanted to update, this is happening again. No indication from plex its loading anything, just the guide data from server one when on the tab for server 2…have to jump between the various tabs and eventually might get the data for server 2.
Working on a fix for that, should be in beta one of these days.
I’m liking this change so far - being able to combine my local and streaming favorites in the guide makes this more useful. One ask/suggestion about the guide: when I use the back button to go to the guide, it lingers for just a moment on the current channel and then goes back to the “top” of the guide; it would make more sense if the guide display starts with the current channel being viewed. Thanks.
The latest update shouldn’t have affected Live TV playback. Can you please make sure nothing else changed on your setup?
Latest beta has a few quality fixes including this one. Feel free to give it a try
Also, not being able to reorder the LiveTV source on android, is not intended. We are working on a fix.
I don’t have a guide for OTA channels on ROKU. Works on all other devices, web browser, mobile, etc. On ROKU it says “I need to check my channels and refresh the guide” (for all users). Due to my ideal location, I get 48 OTA channels in HD. It’s what I usually watch.
I did find out that if I select “browse” and choose a program already playing, then hit the back button I get “a guide” of sorts, but it’s lacking network logos and channel numbers. Not ideal.
The actual guide functionality for OTA is broken otherwise on ROKU.
Hope this info helps.
Downloaded the beta 8.31.0.31215 on Tivo Stream4K. Going from a live channel back to the guide returns to the guide position of the channel that was being viewed, except from the “Favorites” tab: when returning to the guide in the “Favorites”, it still goes back to the top of the guide.
On Roku, OTA channels don’t have a guide. Shows message to “verify channel mapping and refresh guide”. OTA support is my main use case for plex and it is broken.
Has Plex offered a fix? a date for a fix?
I have a Roku TV: I don’t use the Roku functionality of it much but tested it out this morning. I see guide information in the PLEX app for all live channels, including the OTA from my HDHomeRun. If there’s something specific I can test for you please let me know.
I’m having an issue getting my local TV channels to work on both my Roku devices. The 1st tab (my Plex server) before the Plex TV channels under live tv, is greyed out and below, it says it failed to load guide and please try again later. I’ve tried many things. Rebooting server, rebooting Roku’s, making sure latest Roku update is in place. I tried this on Plex for FireStick and it works perfectly unlike what I’m seeing on the Roku Plex. Not getting that error at all. How can I fix this? Or is it a known issue and will be fixed in next Roku update? Does Plex Preview perhaps have it working?
I should mention it also still works fine on my iPad and iPhone in the old “Live TV & DVR” section. But, the Plex web apps for Mac and Windows both fail to play any channels. They quit immediately.
UPDATE: Ok, figured it out… had to click the 3 dots on live TV and choose to personalize it and then look at guide sources. For whatever reason, there were 2 different listed sources of my same plex server name. The one checked apparently doesn’t work. I unchecked and checked the other one and now it’s working great… Figured I’d mention this in case anyone else runs into it…
I happen to like my Live TV… dunno why everybody needs to complain about everything… as if.
I don’t mind the live icon, I actually hope they use the same design in orange for the unwatched episode count.
