Live TV&DVR / Live TV on Plex Combined

Could please elaborate on that. Are you switching between tabs and the content doesn’t update? What exactly is it that you see.

Is there a way to split Plex’s streaming stuff away from my channels? I used to have my sources nicely organized at the top of the left hand nav, and the Plex media sources at the bottom… because I didn’t want them mixed together.

Hey,

I just tried a bunch of channels (OTA and Plex Live) and yes it seems to only be this 1 particular channel! Same result on both the 4k Firestick and a Roku Streaming Stick+.

I do not see any error message pop when you choose ‘Add to favourites’. Subsequently, no heart symbol appears and when returning to the context menu it still says ‘Add to favourites’.

The only thing that is more obvious on the Roku compared to the firestick, when you successfully add a channel to favourites you briefly see the loading spinner appear. On the channel that doesn’t work, you don’t. It instantly drops back to the gridview.

Cheers.

That’s precisely happening to me, I have 2 servers, the one in house is first, the remote one is 2nd, and plutoplex is 3rd.

I select the 1st (local server) and see the guide from it. I select the 2nd Server (remote) and the guide often remains the one from server 1. I have to tab back and forth several times to get it to change.

something that’s currently a mess and not entirely rolled out across all clients is disingenuous to the nature of his platform and followers who are going to go straight into their systems and be up in arms trying to see what he sees.

Have you been paying attention to ANYTHING Plex has done in the last 3 years?

Maybe it’s not very clear but the new Live TV source encapsulates both your local OTA sources and Plex Live TV channels. If you don’t want to see the Plex Channels then you have the option to disable them. Also this new source, like any other can be reordered on the side menu.

Please let me know if you are seeing anything different.

If you grab some logs and send them over on a pm that would be very helpful.

This shouldn’t be happening. Can you please confirm the client device you’re seeing this behaviour in.

I DO want to see them. I just don’t want to see them grouped with my OTA stuff. Everything was fine when they sat nicely at the bottom of my list out of sight until I wanted them.

Now, I am unable to split favorites between the two categories, and it takes me several more clicks to get to what I want.

I really don’t want Plex making organizational decisions for me. I had my stuff right where I wanted it.

Not sure if this makes a difference to you, but I noticed the plex channels always show after your own channels. So I guess they’re “technically” split when you’re using the filters.

Also, while I would also like to know if the What’s On page will be returning, I don’t think its really needed anymore as we can filter on the guide. Would be nice to at least have the option to add some of the hubs from What’s On to the home in library settings though…

This was a Philips Android TV. It does now seem to be behaving itself when I checked it this morning.

As per @phbellefleur and I it’s happening on Android. If you have more than one server with Live TV then clicking the first guide the listings will load properly but when you go to click on the second servers guide it wont load. You then have to click the first guide and then back to the second guide and it will then finally load.

Live TV is also starting in a paused state on Firestick 4k and while watching a program then going back to the guide it will pause while in the background.

I also have EPG bleedover on Roku. If I have two Live TV servers and they share the same channel number between the servers (not even the same channel just the same number) the listings from one guide will bleed over to the other guide when switching but just on the channel numbers that are the same. I worked around this by modifiying the channel numbers on the other guide. XMLTV.

Will do!

Thanks for listing the steps in such detail. Will raise that internally and investigate.

Are both servers using XMLTV? So you are saying that you’re switching tabs and you are seeing airings that belong to another channel on a different server that just has the same channel number?

Correct. Both servers are XMLTV.

Appreciate suggestions trying to make this work, but it worked perfectly before. I really don’t have any interest in trying to force this to work for me.

Other than trying to put their ad supported content closer to the forefront, I really don’t see any benefit of combining the two completely different sources.

I don’t disagree that some people will still prefer it split, ideally it should’ve been changed on an opt-in / opt-out basis, while still updating the functionality of our own channels. At least for myself, I think the pros outweigh the cons! I just hope they bring back the what’s on page.

But, it is frustrating when Plex innovate features at the expense of others, with that, I can understand your frustrations.

What are the benefits?

Where can I now see my upcoming shows and recommendations?

Ability to favourite channels and having an option to filter the guide are both undeniably in the pro category. While subjective, even the ability to merge your sources is a pro, if you can excuse the fact you don’t get a choice of what gets merged.

The only con (at least to me) is the lack of what’s on page.

Seems to me that they already had the sorting on the web stuff. Favorites too.

Also seems that they could have added sorting and favs without being intrusive to the ecosystem. I’d buy that.

There are no tangible benefits to me of combining things that are not related. That’s my sole complaint. If I’ve sounded like I didn’t like the other features, that’s not the case. :slightly_smiling_face:

I honestly understand your complaints, like I said, it’s a shame this option wasn’t an opt-in / opt-out situation with the benefits of favourites and filters on both. But from what I can tell, it looks like they’ve added our channels as an option to the Plex Live TV guide. This was pretty clear when the Live TV option lives under Plex instead of my Server.

It’s a shame really, because if I’m right, a toggle would take more work / be more difficult to add because of how they’ve implemented it.
