Same for us
UPDATE - CORRECTION
after sitting overnight the Plex App 8.24.0.28206 experienced the same problem as the 8.23.0.27973, started buffering after about 18 minutesā¦
went back to the 8.22ā¦0.27327 and once again system is working well.
Also experiencing this.
PMS: 1.24.3.5033
Fire TV 4k: 8.24.0.28206
HDHomeRun Quatro
Downgraded to 8.22.0.27327 which has resolved it. Worth noting that the in-play EPG behaviour has also changed between these versions. On x.27327 pressing up shows the EPG, whereas x.28206 shows the player controls instead.
Iām having the same issue, this seems to be getting bigger and an issue with the android app. Is anyone else getting buffering when you first launch live tv and the best way to get it to stop is to rewind after the first few seconds? I posted my logs on this thread
I usually start seeing this message when it dies:
Sep 26, 2021 16:28:35.984 [0x7ff1f19f2b38] ERROR - [Transcoder] [mpeg2video @ 0x7f785a5cc600] Invalid frame dimensions 0x0.
I attached my log file from when live TV crashed. I was watching a football game and then the video went blank and started queuing. This happens on Fire TV and Android TV. Havenāt tried it on my Roku yet.Plex Media Server.log (7.6 MB)
I think I am experiencing similar problems.
Specifically on my shield tv 2019. My server is on a 3800x windows 10 machine and cpu usage/ram/network graphs barely notice when I am playing media on several devices so it isnāt my server. It also doesnāt seem to be an issue on other devices, at least not as much. For example, I was having trouble a few nights ago and decided to watch live tv on another device to see if it was working. Ran mostly fine on my phone, tablet, and browser. I also tried the hdhomerun app and tv was flawless.
I am almost certain this is a shield issue. Even watching dvr content has become next to impossible as scrubbing is super slow and causes frequent crashes. I donāt have any recent logs or I would attach, but wanted to add my name to the list and hopefully attention is on this problem because tv is definitely broken on the shield.
Same experience on Shield 2017
same problem using amazon fire cube and latest PMS Version 1.24.3.5033
really quite egregious problem, shocked Plex not urgently addressing this as watching live tv is unusable with this issue
I have been dealing with issues regarding my Live tv with my HD homerun Prime after these darn updates for months now. I am beyond frustrated that Plex has not addressed or even acknowledged this issue. I have been a Plex pass member for years and i am seriously starting my search for an alternative. My live tv is unreliable, consistently crashes on multiple devices in and outside of the home network. What i am a paying for? Plex you have to do better!
Hey Tthere im using Plex 1.24.4.5081 and DVR WIN TV Dual HD on Windows 11 all with new updates and drivers but plex is no finding channels. new install on plex did not help im a plex pass live time user and that is not the first time with problems on dvr!!!
I completely understand. I have been using Jellyfin for the past several days and so far it seems to be working well. It is more complex to set up than Plex, but it works. Please remember my environment, Server is Linux (Ubuntu) , HDHomeRun tuners, and ShieldTV.
As you can see by the posts on this Forum, Plex has issues and some kind of feedback from Plex would be a good thing, for Plex and your customers. As I stated below in a response to another user, I have been tested Jellyfin. While it is a bit more complex to set it up I have found it WORKs, both the OTA TV and DVR. I plan to keep my Plex setup active and will from time to time check to see if it is working, but so far the only surprise for me, the length of time Plex has allowed this problem to go unresolved. You should note that the folks posting here are paying for Plex, so there is some expectation that the basic features work. It almost seems the strategy is to get folks to move from the platform. If in fact that is the case can someone at Plex make a statement so users can react appropriately. Thank you
I having this issue too.
PMS: 1.24.3.5033 running on Shield 2019: 8.23.1.28053, HDHomeRun Connect 4K
As soon as the buffering starts I see the following errors:
[Transcode] MDE: No part decision to choose from
[Transcode] Streaming Resource Cannot make a decision because either the file is unplayable or the client provided bad data
[Transcode] Failed to obtain a streaming resource for transcode of key

I have issues too with LiveTV ending unexpectedly.
Server: Mac Intel
Tuner: HDHomerun Extend
Some observations with playback include:
- DVR/LiveTV HD streams transcode to SD without any options to change the stream quality
- DVR/LiveTV stutter - sometimes audio only cuts out, sometimes video/audio cut out then resumes
- If a stream unexpected ends/stops, occasionally in the dashboard the stream is present in the ānow playingā and force stopping does not remove the item from now playing.
I have tinkered in an attempt to improve performance, by utilizing a ram disk for transcoding, playing with hardware acceleration, selecting/unselecting beta auto-quality with the same result of an unreliable LiveTV experience within PLEX. As a work around I have resorted to VLC to play LiveTV⦠hoping itās a temporary bandaid until the issue is resolved.
Tested Plex today since my Linux based server did an update to 1.24.4.5081. No change, still the same issue. So running the latest Nvidia Shield Plex app (8.23.1.28053) with the updated server app and everything is the same as when I reported it Sept 19th.
Appreciate the feedback, Iām keeping my shield on Beta 8.23.0.27576 until they can fix the problem.
It has its flaws but Live/TV DVR abrupt stopping is the BIG problem that this version iām sitting on will get me by till they can hopefully get this problem fixed.
Yeah I reported this in beta as well, the only solution is to roll your app version back.
As I noted above I was running PMS 1.24.3.5033 and 8.23.1.28053 on my Shield 2019 and it was pretty annoying to have it randomly buffer and crash. Updated PMS to 1.24.4.5081 and still had problems. I did some further searching and found version 8.25.0.28426. I am not sure if this is a beta version or what but figured Iād give it a try since what I have is unwatchable. I hope Iām not pre-mature on this but itās been almost 24 hours and no buffering/crashes have occurred.
Thatās great, I may try the 28426 app as well. And yes it is a Beta, but in this case if it works to handle the basics, who cares.
Thank you for the post
