Live TV fails with "Error — Unable to find title for item of type 5"

The tuning issue that manifests itself in a logged timeout in the Plex Media Server as follows

DEBUG - TranscodeSession: timed out waiting to find duration for live session

is being investigated. A possible fix has already been given to 2 users to try and there is positive feedback, however, there is still an issue with one of the channels in tests carried out by @workit247 and we need to follow that up before releasing the fix

If you do not have this error at the time of the recording and tuning the channel, then we need logs to investigate collected soon after the failed recording

1.15.8.1163 is working for me, no timeouts on my problem channels.

Interesting and not understood as the fix for the timeout is not in that release.

@King_Family @cscoppa @tachtevrenidis @Cafe_Diem

Regarding timeouts on tuning I would like to extend the trial of development build 1.15.8.1156-729c84fdf to you as well to confirm the fix

But feel free to try the new beta 1.15.8.1163 first and if it makes a difference, do let me know - preferably with logs from the current version in use - failing to tune and the 1.15.8.1163 succeeding. I do not expect the beta to make a difference - but since @workit247 says it did, i suggest you try it as well

If problem remains, let me know what binary/platform you run on and i will make the development build 1.15.8.1156-729c84fdf available to you

Understood, I’ll try out the current beta first, then will get back to you if I need the dev build. Thanks for your work on this!

Alright, @sa2000, I just tried live TV on both 1.15.6.1079 and 1.15.8.1163, and received the same error on both builds. I’m guessing you don’t need fresh logs if I’ve seen no change in behavior? Assuming so, I’m ready for the dev build. My server is on Windows 10 x64 (1803).

@sa2000, much appreciated! I will try the beta build and should know by tomorrow evening if it helped or not. I’ll let you know either way. Thanks!

I have sent you a download link for the windows binary for 1.15.8.1156 - this would be a downgrade from the current beta as far as windows is concerned - so add/remove programs to uninstall 1.15.8.1163 and then install the development build

Please let me see debug logs for tuning the channels that failed before

Thank you

@sa2000 from where can I download this version?

Edit: found it, nevermind!

I just installed 1.15.8.1163 on my Qnap NAS and same channels from the HDHomerun Prime are still timing out, no change.

An update, 1.15.8.1163 failed on the HD channel I was having issues with. When it did succeed it was showing picture pretty much right at 25-30 seconds, so I’d bet I was right at the threshold for timeout before. I’m downgrading to 1.15.8.1156 dev to keep helping with testing.

I have sent you download link for 1.15.8.1156 package for QNAP 64-bit intel

Please let me have the server logs regardless of the outcome

Well, it looks like I’m fighting two different issues. One includes the

Error - Unable to find title for item of type 5

The other involves the recording taking place, Plex reporting that the recording is successful, and then the file disappearing after that which I think may be related to:

https://forums.plex.tv/t/dvr-claims-to-successfully-record-certain-shows-no-resulting-file-to-be-found-on-hard-drive/194374/39 and/or
https://forums.plex.tv/t/dvr-records-episode-movie-but-it-fails-to-appear-in-library/412421/4

Have windows servers. 1163 still fails. Sometimes runs OK for days, then can’t connect to specific channels for days. Any news on what the problem is?

Let me see server logs covering time of failure

Thanks for linking to the other threads and your post there with screenshot and a log. Need debug logging to follow it up. Your issue appears to be related to use of comskip

I have replied to your post here DVR records episode / movie but it fails to appear in library - #9 by sa2000

Today I received the

DEBUG - TranscodeSession: timed out waiting to find duration for live session

error. See timestamp Jun 01, 2019 14:29:25.854. Plex 1.15.6.1079 on CentOS.

Thanks for the log. I will send you the install for development build 1.15.8.1156. I see some evidence that you may still encounter delays which we found for a specific channel that @workit247 had and that is being worked on. But the changes in the development build may be sufficient to resolve

Is there a Mac build to test for this? I’m having the same errors.

For each case I like to see debug logs of the problem
