This video/audio freeze occurs intermittently, perhaps once per hour on average, and only while viewing a live channel, not while replaying a recorded program. The only way to restart the live viewing of that same channel is to start viewing another channel first, and then returning to viewing the original channel.

About the uploaded server log file: I have redacted my email address in the file for privacy reasons. As noted in the file name, the viewing came to an end at 6:03:13.412. Actually I am not sure if this was when the video froze, or when I exited the Live TV function. The log says that the process ended because the “client” requested it, however the video froze without my requesting it to do so. Therefore perhaps the freeze might have been logged earlier in the log file.

I hope that you will soon correct this problem, because having the live TV fail so often is very unpleasurable.

try to use old player, for me is working. New player is freezing everytime

I have not had this problem with the “Plex for Windows” version 1.10.0.1208, however I need to use the FireTV app so that I don’t have to run a computer to watch TV. Did you mean to use an older version of the FireTV app? I am not aware that Amazon will provide older versions of the app.

no, I mean go to the setting on plex app on the firestick, there is an item called enable new player set to OFF and save, then try live tv

I’m having the exact same problem. I’ve narrowed it down to being the Plex app. I’m using the new TiVO Stream 4k which is androidtv and I am running the exact same version number as you. I tried switching off the new player but it didn’t make any difference.

The fix, which is annoying, is to use the new player, click on the channel, then go into the playback settings and change the quality from Play Original Quality to Convert Automatically OR if Convert Automatically is already on on, it’ll show Now: 1080p, 40Mbps, so i switch it to Play Original Quality, which still doesn’t work and then back to Convert Automatically and bam, it starts working perfect but it’ll show Now: 1080p, 22Mbps.

I think there are some serious bugs in this version. Hopefully a fix is coming soon.

I can now add to my original post that I can confirm that while accessing “Live TV” while using the “Plex App for FireTV”, version 8.0.1.17410 as the client, that the video stream reliably freezes at 3 minutes past the top of the hour. The Plex programmers should have no problem reproducing this error, and then using their own log files to find the problem.

If you want them to fix it, you’ll most likely need to get the logs. They may not be able to reproduce it. I’m going to gather my own logs as well.

https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/ Scroll down to Android TV & Fire TV to see how to enable network logging.

I know you’re right, I should submit an Android log, but I figure that if the Plex programmers can reliably reproduce the “freeze” which occurs at 3 minutes past the hour while using the FireTV (Android) app, then not having a log from me would not stop them from looking at their own log after the “freeze” occurs for them. Anyway I am weary of all these Plex problems which include the video freezing while attempting to time-shift the video back to an earlier portion of the video, and also the EPG showing the wrong programs on 2 of the channels which I watch/record most frequently. So I am going to be cancelling my Plex Pass until these problems are corrected.
