Thanks. I’ve learned a lot in the last couple of weeks and have it largely under control now. Not perfect, but workable.
Update here
Android Devices there is an update ready to be download and install
Version 8.12.4.22902
There is no option to turn off a new player
The video streams are in MPEG2 format now audio has not changed
It does seem to be working better on all the channels, there are some pauses in the stream but does not stop.
There are some high bandwidth requirements from what I see in my bandwidth meter.
Still improvement
Also, I have updated my Linux server to the newest software version as well.

Anyone having issues with Playback stops suddenly with the close captions on?
So, what I have gathered from digging through my debug logs is that it is an issue as soon as my Shield TV reaches a point that it starts pruning older segments off. With direct streaming from my hdhomerun it takes about 90 minutes.
Once it starts pruning, I get DEBUG - Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected after 1130496(this varies by chunk size) bytes: 104 - Connection reset by peer. Shield TV is connected at gigabit so there shouldn’t be a bandwidth issue between server/client. After the connection reset message is when the buffer/stuttering occurs to the point that Live TV playback stops.I’ve installed the most recent beta update and things have improved but only slightly. The debug logs show that the client is requesting the same chunks over again so it seems that this is a client issue.
Have to do some more research on other clients but from reading the community’s posts it seems related to client-side RAM/cache usage? Perhaps this would be more appropriate for a feature request but is there a way to change the number of minutes that is allowed to stay in the client-side cache for timeshifting to test my theory?
Install the Beta.
