Local extras

Can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I am ripping the Star Trek original series blue rays and I’ve pulled off some extra like interviews with cast and such. I made a folder called interviews in the show’s folder per what the help topic says here:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/local-files-for-tv-show-trailers-and-extras/
I gave my file a descriptive file name but nothing other than the Trailers that it pulls from the web since I have a plex pass show.

Mind sharing the specific naming and organization of your files?

Directory structure is
F:\TV shows\Star Trek
then with in that folder I have a folder for each season named “season1” and so on for each season. also created a folder called “Interviews” with those files in it.
extras
extras1

more please… how exactly are the files named?
Edit: I somehow missed that second screenshot popping up; please drop the -interview suffix in the file name if you’re using a dedicated Interviews folder.

Did you refresh the library (or show’s) metadata after adding those interviews?

I take it your library is pointing at the folder TV Shows?

I uploaded a second pic with one of the extra interview video files.
I refreshed the library many times, and yes plex is pointed to that TV shows folder in the library settings

Edit: I renamed the file, dropped the interviews suffix. the video still isn’t under extras after a library refresh

The reason I’ve asked about refreshing metadata is that many users use the Scan library files option instead – which will do no good when it comes to local extras.

What agent is your library using?
Local extras for tv-shows should only work with the Plex TV Series agent.

I’m using the plex agent and just refreshed the meta data

Success! I clicked manage Library > Refresh all meta data again and this time my video showed up as expected there in the middle,

I have a few more to add so will try that after I add those!

I just added a dummy file to a show of mine…

TV Shows
  Show Name (year)
    Interviews
Star Treck TOS on bluray intro.mp4
    Season 01
      ...
    Season 02
      ...

After refreshing the show’s metadata, the extra will immediately show on my setup.

Have you configured your library to prefer embedded/local metadata and does your file contain some “conflicting” embedded title/metadata?

Glad it worked for you.

I see I was not refreshing meta data just the library. That was one issue and I didn’t need that suffix in that situation. though with a movie I have a behind the scenes extra I used the suffix for that in the file name and it worked but that video didn’t have its own sub directory.
