Local music artwork not being scraped

The local artwork in question:

  • /shared/music/Michael Herter/[2020] SPACE MUSIC and UNIVERSE/cover.png
  • /shared/music/Various Artists/[2024] The Swamp Records Sampler/cover.png

The music tracks are found by Plex. The local artist artwork is found by Plex. The album artwork is not.

What I’ve Done

  • Verified the files exist
  • Verified the files are valid PNGs
  • Files are ~3MB, Plex scrapes 10MB+ images
  • Verified the files exist in the container
  • Verified the file permissions in the container
  • Restarted the container
  • The Plex dance
  • Verified “Local Media Assets” is enabled for Artists and Albums under “Agents”
  • Scanned the library multiple times
  • Refreshed the metadata for the library, artist, and albums multiple times

The artwork still does not show up. I’ve used this file system layout for quite a while, and Plex hasn’t had any issues with it before. If anyone has any ideas (besides changing the file system layout), I’m happy to hear them.

Briefly unmatch, artwork shows up, then rematch. Noticed that bug too .

Just use jpg.

No. I’m done with the workarounds and rituals Plex expects its users to do when Plex screws up. If Plex is no longer interested in fixing bugs in their media server, then I need a new media server.
