Logged in to server IP, but home is empty

Server Version#: 1.42.2
Player Version#: 4.147.1
Qnap: QTS 5.2.5.3145

I’m getting no errors. Just that my home screen shows:

I was on 1.41.1 so I did a manual update via the app center in qnap to the 1.42.2. But still shows no server availability even though I’m logged into the PMS IP address on the QNAP.

What am I missing?

What does http://<IP_OF_PMS>:32400/identity show?

<MediaContainer size="0" apiVersion="1.1.1" claimed="1" machineIdentifier="34ac9dd[CENSORED]059323d73264cf595" version="1.42.2.10156-f737b826c"> </MediaContainer>

Thanks for replying…

I think I resolved it. After logging into the Qnap main page, I was greeted with this warning:

I’m not quite sure why it hiccups like this when set to auto (with a static IP reservation from the router) - but I just hardcoded the gateway/IP/DNS servers and it all came back up again. So it just couldn’t resolve host names. Still, I don’t understand why if my PMS couldn’t reach the internet, it would prevent a local (LAN) user from seeing the content…

by default plex requires you to be authenticated and approved to access the server before showing you server contents. Fairly standard security policy in my opinion. Plex does have settings to disable this, but that is disabled by default.

It may be fairly standard, but as someone who is trying to minimize cloud control over MY things, it really causes me some heartburn. I get it, I can access my content directly via my LAN, but there is no reason why a lack of internet access should preclude my ability to see the server contents locally. What if Plex shuts down? Or your ISP has a long-term outage? I’m on board with outside connections being gimped, but local? Just seems unnecessarily dependent on outsiders. But I guess that’s a different issue. Thanks for your input.

@erkme73 check your server settings List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth is the solution you are looking for.

Excellent. I added 192.168.0.0/24 which will cover all my LAN device. Much appreciated!
