Long running plexmediaserver suddenly not available

Server Version#: 4.51.3
Player Version#: ALL

After a server reboot with no changes to server or settings, suddenly my years long running Plex Media Server, CentOS7, VirtualBox VM, static IP address, reports as unavailable. I can browse to the direct IP address on port 32400/web but get the “No Soup for You!” message. Logged out and back in, same result.

I have tried multiple clients including iOS, and Android, as well as launching through plex.tv and browsing direct to the server on port 32400. They all say the server is unavailable.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please go dive into the /var/lib/plexmediaserver directory.

I’m investigating something I’ve seen. I hope you are not experiencing it as well.

Please look at Preferences.xml

Check the value of PlexOnlineToken="<something>"

Please let me know if it has a hashed value or is a null string ?

The string PlexOnlineToken doesn’t exist in /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application\ Support/Plex\ Media\ Server/Preferences.xml which is the only Preferences.xml file on the system.

As long as it’s not PlexOnlineToken="", we’re ok.

What’s happened, which I’m investigating, is that PMS signed itself out for reasons unknown.

Are you comfortable with a little more command line work?

Certainly. I’ve spent most of my computing life on the command line.
