Hey guys. With PMP for Windows on the chopping block I need to find an alternative way to watch videos.
A bit of background: My Plex server runs on a monster of a PC which should be able to transcode video without breaking a sweat. I have an LG Smart TV with a Plex app but the transcoding quality is average at best and unwatchable at worst. I’ve been getting around this by plugging my TV directly into my PC and treating it like a secondary monitor. PMP is set to start on my TV and use my TV speakers and I control it with a basic keyboard/airmouse combo thing with basic up/down/left/right/enter buttons on it. I tested the new Plex for Windows app and it doesn’t seem to support keyboard controls (or at least not the keyboard controls I have available) which makes it unsuitable for my needs.
What I’m looking for then is a way to play at ‘original’ quality on my TV. Whether this is achieved by buying a Kodi box, installing another Windows-based player or fixing the quality of my transcodes I don’t really care. What’s the best way to achieve this?
