Lost access to my Plex media server, it may have been deleted

Hello, recently I got a new router and when I connected my Synology NAS to it, the IP changed, and it locked me out of my server. For a temporary solution, I went back to the old router and set the NAS to the old IP. This half-fixed the problem since it allowed me to access my server through the Plexamp app and by entering trough app.plex.tv, but if I entered Plex through my NAS, my server was still unavailable. A day later, now the server is gone everywhere, and instead I just get the tab telling me to “Get Plex Media Server.” I don’t know if the server was deleted, or if there’s a way I can regain access to it. I could create a new one since all my files are in my NAS, but I had my server organized, and I would lose things like playlists, so I’d rather get back the old one.

If you’re using DSM 7, the SPK installer allows you to reclaim the server even if you’re on a different subnet / otherwise locked out.

If I may suggest –

  1. Don’t use app.plex.tv to open your server for now. Use the Syno’s LAN IP address http://lan.ip.of.syno:32400/web style.

  2. To reset the ownership credentials for your server, on DSM 7, refer here.

After trying to do the steps in part 2 I got this error message:

A couple of days ago, my server disappeared from all my devices and I get the prompt in my account to create a new one, that’s why I thought it may have been deleted, but maybe it’s just an error trying to connect to it.

Given it can’t talk.

Presuming you didn’t make any changes to the network configuration anywhere (including the modem/router),

First step is to just restart the modem/router then restart the Syno.
Next, try to claim it again using the Plex claim token method.

If that still fails, make a ZIP file of the “Logs” directory (PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server/Logs) and attach it please.

Hopefully it’ll provide info else we’ll get a big :hammer: and fix it that way

Here’s a zip file with the server’s logs
Logs.zip (906.0 KB)

thanks.

I found it.

This is the second machine tonight where DSM can’t get to the internet / plex.tv

Did your internet / equipment change at all?

I had plugged the Synology into a new router and I couldn’t claim the server, so I went back to the old one, regained access, then after a day the server disappeared. I went back and forth between routers once more. Currently, it is plugged to the old router. Originally, I tried the claim token on the new router, seeing as that didn’t work I tried it on the old one, which might have messed things up.

When you switch routers, you usually have two choices:

  1. Configure the new router to exactly mimic the configuration of the old one (drop in replacement)
    -or-
  2. Change everything on your LAN to work with the new router.

It might be you’ve gotten caught between the two.

which are you using right now and how is it configured ?

Originally, I had my NAS connected to the modem/router from the ISP, then I got a router and plugged it in, currently both are running with wireless. Right now, I have the NAS connected to the ISP modem/router, where I originally installed the server. I did not configure the new router to mimic the configuration of any previous one and was hoping to change things on my LAN to work with the new router, but ran into problems with the Synology. I haven’t changed any setting on the old ISP router.

Hello, since my last message I have now turned off the new router. I only have the one from the ISP that’s also my modem, that’s where I originally had my NAS connected when I created my server, but I’m still unable to claim it.
