Lost Metadata for Existing TV Shows

A couple months ago, I changed my TV Show library destination (from HDD1 to HDD2 - I copied all the files over from HDD1 to HDD2 so nothing should be different). The metadata worked.
I didn’t have to change anything, everything worked itself so that means my file naming, etc was as per Plex’s requirements.

My Plex shut down for a couple months as I was away, and now I lost Metadata for many of my shows. I have no idea why, since it was there before. I refreshed Metadata, and I would manually have to select a TV Show cover (I would have 1 option, where previously I would have 3-4+ options), and each season used to have its own options to choose from. Now I don’t get a choice, or sometimes just 1 choice.

I deleted the library, and re-added it, and nothing. No metadata at all for my tv shows. Does anybody know why this happened or how I can get it back? Did something change?

Please post the Plex mediainfo XML of one affected episode.

I also realized I no longer have the titles of the episode.
Latest Big Bang Theory episode. The file is named: The Big Bang Theory - S12E01 - The Conjugal

This means the show is ‘unmatched’, so Plex doesn’t know what meta data it should download.

Let’s start with the basics:
Where is your Plex server running on?

Welp, not sure why that would be.
I am running on a Mac Mini running OSX Yosemite.

Edit your TV shows library
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200392106-library-actions/
On the ‘Add Folders’ tab, verify that it points exactly to /Volumes/MEDIA HDD 2/TV Shows. Not one folder level above, nor below that.
On the ‘Advanced’ tab, make sure that Agent is set to either TheTVDB or TheMoviedatabase, but not to Personal Media Shows.

Yup, points to the one folder and using TheTVDB.

Settings - Server - Network - ‘Show Advanced’ - “IPv6 support”
Disable, then restart Plex server
Then perform the Plex Dance with this show alone.

So for some reason I don’t have “Server” settings anymore. I recently found out my ISP has changed to dynamic IP and I have a double-NAT problem in Plex. I thought this only affected my remote access. Would this be a reason why I can’t access server settings?

And what do you mean by Plex Dance with this show alone?

Thank you.

First, let’s ensure your server installation is not damaged:
Download a fresh copy of plex server. Drag the old Plex server icon to the trash can, then drag the new downloaded icon to the applications folder.

First, reboot your router.
Wait a few minutes
reboot your Mac
Perform this procedure to (hopefully) restore your access to the server settings: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

Double NAT shouldn’t be a problem for the local network.
But improper DNS and ‘DNS rebinding protection’ in your router can be problematic.
Go into the settings menu of your router and try to find DNS and ‘DNS rebinding’ settings.

So I guess I could see server settings all along - it was called something different now. My bad.
However, IPV6 was already disabled.

I have no library right now. Should I add just one show and try?

Confused as it was working perfectly fine - my ISP did do some updates recently as mentioned and I am worried that is the problem?? Not sure how getting the metadata is affected though.

I couldnt find DNS rebinding options in my router settings. I have a Linksys router.

So, I decided to try and change the advanced settings from TheTVDB to The Movie Database, and added my TV Show Library, and I have metadata! I have no idea why TheTVDB would suddenly stop working and just not work anymore.

It is not perfect - I am limited/no options for each season artwork - TheTVDB definitely had more options. I don’t have backgrounds either for my shows from the Movie Database.

The theme songs don’t play anymore as they used to, but I guess I can live without that?

Any idea why TheTVDB wouldn’t work anymore?

Both agents should work.
Why one of them doesn’t work can only diagnosed by inspecting the log files of your server.
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

Sure. See attached server log file.
Plex Media Server Logs_2018-09-27_01-20-17.zip (4.3 MB)

Is the time and date set correctly on your Plex server machine?

According to the logs, IPv6 support is still enabled.
I could be wrong though, I have not so much experience with Macs…

Time and date should be correct on my Plex server machine. I am based in Dubai.

I think I have IPv6 enabled in my router, but not in the Plex settings.

Can you open the web page of https://www.thetvdb.com/ ?

What about https://tvdb2.plex.tv/login
and https://meta.plex.tv/tv/names/en/df/df78d3c5d0821a62111af430a520eb429a75bb23.xml

https://www.thetvdb.com/ - yes I can open this page.
https://tvdb2.plex.tv/login - this downloads a file to my laptop, which I can open in text edit, but it is a bunch of characters I don’t understand
https://meta.plex.tv/tv/names/en/df/df78d3c5d0821a62111af430a520eb429a75bb23.xml - does not seem to work (see screenshot)

The third one is interesting.
I will ping a developer to look after the proxy for your region.

Yeah, maybe has to do with the region?
I tried to “fix match” and search for TheTVDB I don’t get results, it just searches for a long time.
But for Movie Database it returns results.
