Issue getting metadata

Server Version#: 1.18.5.2309

Hello

I have recently moved my plex server back to my unraid box. I have been running plex on windows earlier because i ran into issues with plex not finding certian shows. The database is moved from the windows system.

Now plex finds all shows, but it does not download metadata for all the shows.

The show i am having issues with is “How it’s made”

This all worked on the earlier windows install of PMS. The filestructure is:
-Plex Media ->TV-> “How it’s Made -> Season 1 -> How It’s Made - S01E01 - Aluminum Foil; Snowboards; Contact Lenses; Bread”

The show has been named using filebot and TVDB so the naming should be fine. Plex finds all my seasons and sorts them correct. But it will not download the metadata.

I have tried the plex dance. I also tried clearing the data folder under plug-in support.

I’m really at a loss. Other series have worked fine and were added after how it’s made. I have not tried a completely clean install (without moving the database from windows) mostly because i don’t want me or my family to loose track of what we have watched.

I have attatched logs. Plex Media Server Logs_2020-02-03_19-52-17.zip (4.2 MB)

Hoping someone can help me shed light on the issue

Try clearing your agent caches as described in this support article:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/202967376-clearing-plugin-channel-agent-http-caches/

Also, try deleting everything in this path:

/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Data/*

Both of these should be done with the Plex Media Server stopped. Afterward, try refreshing metadata for the show.

Stopped PMS
Deleted both Plug-in support/cache and /data
Started PMS

Tried refresh metadata on the show.
It didn’t get the metadata.

What folder is added to your library?

That second line should say scannining /data/Tv Shows not /data/Tv Shows/How it's made

It should look like this

I checked the library and it is pathed as you said.

ok. Can you grab the xml for one fo the episodes from the get info. (might have to put it in a txt file)

Here is the xml from s01e01 as a .txt fileHow its made s01e01.txt (2.2 KB)

Not sure this was the correct way to get the .xml. (get info on episode and right click view xml then chose save as.)

Can you try this with that How its Made show The Plex Dance ™ then grab the logs again afterwards

I did the plex dance with how its made and here are the logs from right after. Plex Media Server Logs_2020-02-04_00-39-41.zip (4.4 MB)

Edit:
i forgot to clean bundles so i did another plex dance but with all the steps. here are the correct logs Plex Media Server Logs_2020-02-04_00-51-50.zip (3.8 MB)

still trying to figure out what is causing this with TVDB . but was thinking that maybe try using themoviedb agent for this show. do a Fix Match on the show and in the window that opens choose “search options” and change the agent to TheMovieDatabase" before the search.

I tried fixing match and changing to themoviedb instead of tvdb. After refreshing metadata there is still no metadata for the show.

@BigWheel i just tried changing the DNS server for the unraid server which the plex was installed. Then i did a full restart. It seems to find the metadata now. Seems there was an issue using my isp’s DNS server. Just changed it to cloudflares 1.1.1.1

The logs said 404 issues. so i tried to acces the website using ping on my computer and it didnt find anything:

Guessing this was the issue all along.

thanks for replying with what worked. Can I ask what ISP you have incase other folks run into the same issue

I have a local isp in Norway called Vitnett. i know most of the people there so i will talk to the people in charge of the DNS.

After talking to my friend who works at Vitnett i seem to have found the issue.

If i didnt write https before the adress when i ping then it finds meta.plex.tv when using my ISP’s DNS server. bilde

So the issue for me was actually that i had a network setting in unraid pointing to a old dns server i had set up on a local adress. I changed this adress to 1.1.1.1 and then plex finds metadata, pictures of actors and posters for series.

Thanks for the help!
