Lost my server, HELP!

Server Version#:
Player Version#:
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

All of my files are in tact and accessible on the drive, but PMS isn’t working at all.

I have tried:
Resetting PMS from the TNAS Application
Uninstall/Reinstall PMS
Restarted Terramaster multiple times.
Signed out/back in to my Plex account

In full disclosure, I was fooling around with some of the security settings in the Plex app and I have no clue what I turned on or off. But whatever it was, I lost access to the server immediately.

I see "The server “F4-423” is unreachable. Make sure it’s running, double check your network, and try again in the plex app.

I am pretty green when it comes to this and would appreciate any help I can get.

How are you trying to access the server?
Can you still connect using http://[TrueNAS IP address]:32400/web from within the same network/subnet?

I am on the same network/subnet. The attached error is what I am seeing when accessing via web browser

If this only happened after you made changes to the server settings… you could stop PMS, locate and rename preferences.xml inside the server data directory on your NAS, then restart the server.
You’ll probably need to reclaim the server afterwards.

Stop as in disable PMS in TOS? I am not sure how to find the xml file on my NAS. This is the top level of my NAS, correct?

Not familiar with how TOS is managing its apps… but that sounds right (as long as it just stops the server and won’t uninstall it)

Got it! I did get the app stopped. I just need to locate the xml file. I searched for it, but no results were found. What am I missing?

TerraMaster

/home/plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server

I know the server data directory can be „unhidden“ in Synology where it’s just another share for which your user by default doesn’t have permission to see.
If that’s not the case with your Terramaster you might need to SSH into the NAS and locate the path from there.

Found the xml filed and renamed it. Restarted PMS and still see the same error. I also logged into my plex account and see this. Tried the retry connection option. Nothing. When I click on the troubleshooting, it just takes me back to the troubleshooting guide

Well… at least it’s showing you the Plex Web app and no longer the generic error page.
Do you get this when opening the web app using the NAS’s local IP address?

Ha! Indeed this is progress. If I login using the NAS local IP address and the port number for plex (32400), I get the same “page isn’t working right now”

Can you check the server data directory for a Logs folder – zip it ans share the server logs, please? I’m wondering if the server is actually running at all.

Startup Crash.zip (3.5 MB)

Either you have a bad time setup on your NAS, or that Plex Media Server hasn’t been running since Feb 2, 2024.

I have NO idea what or how, but my server and files are back online and intact. I kept disabling PMS, renaming the xml file and restarting PMS and the TerraMaster. Finally at some point, I got the Plex login page to show up. At first, I was seeing the “Welcome to Plex” prompts as if I had never used it before. Interestingly enough, after a few next/continue prompts, I could see the name of my server and the folders where those files were located. I have found a few minor things that I will have to figure out (lost my remote access option and some library scanning options I had enabled, etc), but in the grand scheme of things, I am relieved that I didn’t have to go all the way back to day 1 setup. I think the reason I lost some of these settings was because of all the things I have tried to get back to where I was prior to yesterday. Thanks so much for your help and guidance!
