Love Plexamp (but would be nice to have chromecast support)

I never really considered Plex for my music because I found most of my needs filled through Google Play Music (plus I tried it out many years ago and was underwhelmed; I’m sure things have changed since then).

Now that Play Music is shutting down, and I absolutely despise YouTube Music, I’m giving Plex another shot. But no Chromecast support is gonna make things difficult. Hope it shows up soon

+1 Chromecast Support!!

(I’m currently using work-arounds like Rogue Amoeba Airfoil from Windows and AirConnect from Apple things – and these work arounds are buggy enough that I switch back to the regular plex app or plug a device into my receiver just to have Plex Amp. Chromecast support would fix these things.)

Yep, it’s literally the one thing Plex needs to be my music platform, chromecast for plexamp.

Yeah, how is Chromecast support not a foundational feature? I’ve been building up my Plex music library in anticipation of losing Google Play Music, but without the ability to cast my music, Plexamp is literally 100% useless for me. I’ve been assuming this was already baked in because why wouldn’t it be?!

Still hoping for that casting functionality. It’s just silly that I have to keep going back to the main Plex app to cast.

Plexamp is amazing besides that, btw. I keep being pleasantly surprised by all the great features.

Huge +1 for Chromecast / Chromecast Audio functionality. This is a glaring omission in what is otherwise a fantastic app.

+1 for Chromecast support.

Also would love to “adjust” to longer than 24 hours for downloads (should be adjustable to as much storage is on the local device rather than an arbitrary amount of time, similar to the Plex app).

And, as mentioned above, being able to search for a specific song in a playlist and/or being able to add AND remove a song from a playlist when viewing the song.

Can’t wait, do we have a time frame (however loose) when we might expect it? Keep up the good work

it’s coming (weeks)

Disappointed where Sweet Fades doesnt work on Chromecast speakers and im certain its going to be a limitation due to Googles end. I guess im just going to have to live with pauses after tracks.

on the plus side, the casting seems to be more solid now than before. played 25 tracks and not one drop in connection or pausing, which was habitual in the regular Plex app.

Sadly, Chromecast does its own streaming/player (as opposed to AirPlay, which just sends audio from device to speaker), so you’re dependent on the receiver app and its capabilities. Doing sweet fades/gapless on chromecast would be very challenging if even possible…

Any plan to add multi-device cast? I can cast to my ShieldTV or to my Google Nest Mini but not to both at the same time and thanks to Google removing the option to group “Cast Enabled Devices” from the Google Home app I currently have no way of doing it. :pray:t3:

ok so then heres my dilema, my Onkyo receiver has both Airplay and Chromecast functionality but i have 5 chromecast enable tabletop speakers that are linked for sync audio using the chromecast audio groups… but the one missing link is the Onkyo stereo system which has a 5 speaker setup and unfortunately the chromecast software on the Onkyo is horrible and doesnt stay connected. This is more of an Onkyo firmware issue. The only way i can send audio correctly to the Onkyo Amp is through Airplay but then im out of using the 5 chromecast speakers. it sucks royally to have to pick a side.

We just use the underlying google cast library, so no plans that I know of.

at least you have options! #glasshalffull

yes… its half full lol
