Low quality on any device

Server Version#:latest
Player Version#:latest
It’s been more than 5 years that I use Plex and lately something strange is happening. I’ve bought a new Macbook pro (m1) and I installed Plex media server. I generally use Plex on my PS5 and my Bravia TV. All good as usual, until all of a sudden, after 5 days, the quality on PS5 turned very bad. I know the files are in HD but on PS5 are totally bad. I thought was a PS5/PC problem but then after tested the Bravia version, I noticed the same issue.
So apparently there’s a bad communication between the media server and my devices.
Now, on media server I noticed that the remote access is discontinuous and also my PS5 has an “indirect connection” to the server.
Please help me to fix this because I don’t know anymore how to solve it. I even uninstalled and reinstalled everything on my pc and devices creating a new account… but nothing happened.
Thanks

Let’s start here… It sounds like something in your network settings changed somehow.

Go into your router and assign your new Macbook a static IP, and then make sure port forwarding is pointing to that specific IP.

Stupid question… you didn’t change internet providers, did you?

Hey Dalmus, thanks for the reply.
So, here is where the things turn complicated. I have no access to my router for 2 reasons. The first is that I gave a try but somehow the password doesn’t work. Second, I live in Japan and setting up that thing in Japanese it’s not a easy thing since I can’t read Japanese.
Anyway, this may lead to the fact that I never changed any router configuration, so the issue should be somewhere else. I actually didn’t change anything in general. The issue happened out of the blue.
Any clue?

That does complicate things…

What did you have PMS running on before the new Macbook? If you still have that device, can you fire it up and see if that functions properly?

Hmm, what’s a PMS? Sorry, I don’t really know about connection matters.
And no, unfortunately I don’t have the old macbook, I gave it away with the trading service.
But as I said I’m not sure if the new computer is the cause, because for 5 days everything worked good.
There is something that I didn’t mention. I changed the DNS of my connection using the classic 8.8.8.8… is this influential?

No one else with any suggestion? If I can get an answer here, I don’t see what better place since Plex doesn’t have any customer support

My dude, by your own admission you don’t even have access to your own router, one of the main steps and requirements in troubleshooting and resolving remote access issues. No one has a magic fix for you. It’s likely that in getting a new device, it got a new internal IP and now you need to fix the port forward. At the very minimum, you need to figure out how to access your router so you can at least check the settings. It is a primary component in remote access setup and troubleshooting.

Once you do gain access, there’s multiple articles and guides that will hopefully help resolve things:

Remote Access and Troubleshooting Remote Access support pages.
And this guide: The Basics of Remote Access Troubleshooting

For local access issues: do you have another device that you can use that has a browser (phone, tablet etc.)?
