Mac Player Cannot Establish Connection to Server(s)

Server Version#: 1.26.0.5715
Player Version#: 1.44.0.2981
Operating System: macOS 12.3.1
Hardware: 2013 Apple Mac Pro (Trash Can) w/ 12-Core Intel Xeon Processor / 128GB Memory / 2 x AMD FirePro D300 2GB Video Cards / 500GB NVMe SSD

My Player is failing to establish connections to my server as well as other servers that I have access to. Nothing has changed in my network and I am able to connect to the same servers via my iPhone and the Plex iOS from the same network without a problem. I can also use my browser and app.plex.tv/desktop/ to access the server as well. Other people that have access to my server are also able to connect without a problem. I have reinstalled my Player App as well as rebooted my local machine and the Plex server itself to no avail.

Any help is appreciated.

You posted in other thread that you see the same thing as them but as far as I can tell they are seeing a completely empty/black screen.

You seem to be reporting that it is not connecting to servers.

Think it may have a cache of bad connection info. Can you try quitting app, then moving
~‎/Library/Caches/Plex someplace else like desktop for back up then launch the app again.

I am seeing the exact same thing, a blank screen that does not load. In my logs, this is what I see. It’s the same MO as the others in the other thread but they did not post a log so we cannot ensure they are seeing the same issue. As for the URL issue, I completely deleted everything on my Mac that was Plex related including the entire ~/Library/Caches/Plex directory and the other directories. I then removed the app, downloaded a new one, and I still have the same problem. This seems to either be an issue with the application as a whole (especially on Mac 6,1) or a bad configuration somewhere. Nothing on my end has changed. Absolutely nothing! I can still access Plex from iOS, web browser, and outside my network without a problem. This issue has to do with the Mac desktop app directly.

but this topic and the log snipped you posted above are about server connection, not a black/blank screen. You may very well be having both issues but they are two different issues. Talking about two separate issues in the same topic will only confuse things. Please keep this one about the server connection issue.

Quick update, I am able to successfully access Plex via the Plex Desktop installed app on my Apple Mac Mini M1 2020 with client version 1.38.0.2734-ec4489fe. I am going to copy this same client to my MacPro 6,1 to see if it works there as well and will report back.

Well, I had high hopes. I removed the Plex app from my MacPro 6,1 then copied the application to it from my Mac Mini via the network. Everything was looking great then I signed in. At this point, everything loaded successfully, I was able to play a show and what not and then I closed the application and reopened it and it happened again, blank screen, no spinner. Not really sure what to make of this but clearly my Mac was able to establish a connection to the server before I closed the application and reopened it. Just a side note, after I closed it and reopened it, I think it did an update. Is there anyway to stop the desktop app from doing automated updates? I looked for a setting but did not see anything. Thank you.

Just sat down at my machine for the day, launched Plex, it did the update to Version 1.44.0.2981-e2d72ac2 and everything loaded. I closed it and opened it again, broken again. Looks like I gotta copy the old binary back over again.

Can I get an update here please @BigWheel? I am literally paying for Plex and it is super frustrating that I cannot use it without having to delete the old version and copy the new version over every single time. Clearly the problem is with version 1.44.0.2981-e2d72ac2 because it works with an older version without a problem.

Well, looks like disabling the GPU worked so this issue was related to the same issue as the others even though the logs were showing some kind of weird connection issue.
