Mac Player controls don't go away

Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.26.0.5715-8cf78dab3
Player Version#: 1.43.4.2971-aa2133cc

The controls at the bottom of the player don’t go away when the mouse is moved from the window.

As I move the mouse over the window the controls appear, however when I move my mouse away from the window the control remain.

I’ve found that I can get them to go again by pausing and playing the video, and then going to the menu at the top of the screen and hovering over “plex → preferences” for a few seconds, then make sure not to pass the mouse over the window.

Yes, can confirm this bug, along with the crash when resizing on M1 Macs has been in every version since 1.41.

Same issue here.

it is a known issue when cursor goes over the controls ( top or bottom) when it leaves. If you move the cursor out on the left or right ( not over the controls) it should go away

It goes away after some time.

Also its back to letting you seek back to the start of the episode if you grab the window by the bottom left corner just right.

hitting the previous track button once should do the same.

It used to work just fine, so for me this looks like a regression issue.

I’m wondering what’s changed in this handling.

It’s also a little annoying that just by clicking to select the window I end up pausing the video playback.

No like, I don’t want it to rewind. I’m trying to resize the window, and depending on how/when plex wants to draw the player controls, when I grab the bottom left corner of the window, plex will think I’m trying to use the seek bar to go back to 00:00 (even though plex has barely started drawing the player controls) when I am just trying to grab the corner of the window to resize it on the diagonal.

Not that you can really resize the window lately since it’ll cause plex to crash.

ah ok, i see what you mean. just crashed for me when i did that

which mac do you have? I can get it to crash on my older MacBook pro but not my newer one and want to confirm if app has issue with some hardware

M1 Macbook pro 12.3.1 16gb using the RDM app to change the screens resolution. currently at 2048x1280.

Happens most often if I want to make the plex window small.

Still Happens on the new build pushed recently. Version 1.44.0.2981-e2d72ac2

Not sure what app that is. Can you get me a link to it? Does it crash if you leave it on default resolutions?

Here’s my details about the crashing issue.

Same issue here with the controls. Very annoying.

Still can’t get a reliable way to get them to go away. Pause/play may work one time… running the cursor over the controls may work another, then the next time neither do.

And when you do get them to go away… whoops, accidentally moved the mouse over app and have to deal with it all over again.

I have noticed this problem as well but now I am dealing with an even worse problem where Plex for Mac will not even load. The application launches and the screen is completely gray / blank. No spinner icon or anything. Really getting sick of the problems for something that I pay monthly to use. None of my other devices have these problems just Plex for Mac on my MacPro 6,1. I created another thread with logs here: Mac Player Cannot Establish Connection to Server(s)
