Major Issues since update.

Since the October update, I have had several serious issues that effectively mean I can no longer use the XBOX One app.

  • Cannot scrub through media, always returns to original timecode.
  • Media stops playing at random times with the message “An unexpected error occurred while decoding the media.” Attempting to resume playback results in media playing from the start. The same media could play without issue on the old app and in web browser.

Server is headless ubuntu with 12TB raid , connected to xbox one via gigabit ethernet through cisco switch.

Happy to provide logs if it would help. Any ideas?

Hi there. Server logs would be indeed useful! Make sure to also enable logging in the app (settings -> privacy -> log to server).

I can also confirm that I received this error on two different servers, Ubuntu and Win10 based.

Thanks for the response, here are the logs.

Happy to provide any other info if it would help.

@“adferro@gmail.com” Thanks for the logs. It’s a bit tricky to pin down where the issue actually happens. Could you tell me which item was playing or the rough timestamp?

Hi, to make it easier I’ve attached new logs, as the issue just happened again and I’ve noted the time.

I was watching American Horror Story S07E06 and it stopped at 15:06 timestamp. The real time was about 7:48PM, give or take a couple of minutes. I’ve also attached the info of the particular file (bitrate, size, format, etc.) in case it’s useful.

I’m having the same problem as well

For me I was watching Vice Principals Sprint Break Season 2 Episode 7 but it happens during almost every tv show i try to watch or movie.

In the logs I’m noticing an error “Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected: 10053”

Same issue here.

Same issues, and it happens with A LOT of media. If you stop, pause, fast forward, anything to cause play back to stop, it starts at the beginning. No way to get back to where it was.

Server: Plex Media Server v1.9.6.4385-ef7796e43 - Microsoft PC x64 - build: windows-i386 english - GMT -05:00

Error:

DEBUG - handleStreamRead code 10054: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

DEBUG - Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected: 10054 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

Not sure if they changed something but I literally just got through my first tv episode with 0 skips or issues. I’m going to move onto another tv show and see if improved. If theres no followup message from me in this thread assume it’s good news.

Welp no such luck it cut out again -.- for fucks sake plex fix your ■■■■

Also with all the commentary and logs posted I’d think that someone from plex staff would have responded.

I have to say, i was pushing for an xbox one update, for alexa etc, But kind of wishing i didnt lol…

I also have had random issues like above, Do we have any sort of release time on possible update?

I am also having this problem with movies on my Xbox One. Anytime I play a movie, I have no problems until you hit the 75% watched mark. At this point it says that there was an issue decoding the movie, and that it will not continue. This seems to correspond with receiving the Xbox update. This will happen regards of movie.

@Moussa an update on this would be nice a lot of seem to be having problems.

Along with all the problems with the new versions of the HDHomeRun app, the Xbox One S at own house needs to be fitted for an asbestos toaster cover.

looks like there is a new server update… I just installed we’ll see if it sorts the issues out.

Nope still having crashes.
