Malware in windows desktop player detected

Hello
My antivirus is reporting that plex windows player (free version) has a malware (bitcoin miner) in audio encoder. Now it’s blocking and cannot launch it again (see image)

Player Version#: latest, installed today

Uninstall whatever junk you’re using and use Windows Defender instead.

Nothing in Plex is Malware, you can rest assured.
(He says with fairly high confidence)
(if @sinpro says ‘Norton’ - I’m gonna stand back while Otto ignites)

You can upload that exe to https://www.virustotal.com and have it checked by dozens of different anti virus engines.
Let’s see how many of them are classifying this as a virus as well.

Which anti virus software are you using?

I’m using Avira Antivirus Pro. The cloud engine is detecting it as possible malware, but regular web scan shows nothing wrong.

I’ve set AV to ignore this file, as online engines are fine.
Thx for your time

Having some issues still with plex player and AV.

It points to this https://www.avira.com/en/support-threats-summary/7701?track=1

Finally, I’ve whitelisted this audio encoder, and solved the issue (still reporting but not deleting or blocking it)

It’s a “false positive”. You need to send the file to Avira, so they can update their pattern detection.
