Managed Users cannot access content

Server Version#: 4.149.0
Player Version#: All Client devices I tested are on the latest on pc, iphone, android

All of my managed users no longer see any content from any library. This change happened suddenly while some users were in the middle of watching movies. I am unable to access any content as those home users, and only through my admin account and I’m not sure what’s happening.

I need to mention this is plex home users specifically. I’m reaching out to invited managed users to see if they have the same problems.

I am having the exact same issue. Started just a little while ago. Managed users cannot access libraries. The main account has no issues on the same client.

Which exact version of PMS do you have installed (version 4.149.0 refers to the web app, not the server itself) → see Settings > [Server Name] > General.

Plex announced earlier today that they’ll lock access to shared libraries from unpatched servers that still run a version with a security issue.

Is there a way to update through the web interface, the option to update is greyed out.

Not sure why that is.

Updating should be as simple as stopping the server, installing the new version and restarting it (I haven’t done that on Windows in ages, the updater might even take care of stopping/restarting your server during the update).

Updated to the latest through the link you provided, 1.42.1.10060, still have the same problem after rebooting the server.

Depending on the app they’re using, this behavior might be cached. Can they force-quit and restart the app (or on a big screen device possible restart the device)?

Signed out of plex app on my phone and back in, problem persists. I wonder if plex set a grace period for manage access to return once the affected servers are updated.

Mine was saying that it was up to date and could not update. I manually checked for updates and the option to update appeared.

Now, I only see my managed user and it still did not have access to libraries. I rebooted the client. Still could only see managed user. Hit retry several times. Finally managed user could see libraries. But main account is not available. It says user switching is not available.

Hello everyone, has anyone managed to solve this problem? I can’t access any libraries on the managed user section, so strange as always works great!

Mine is now operating as expected again. It took a couple more reboots to resolve.

After I updated the server, I reboot my client, nVidia shield

Still the same on my end, I’ve rebooted the server a few times with no change.

Strangely library access to all home users was nullified, they no longer had library permissions, restored them but the issue persists.

Tested on multiple clients including new ones.

What client are those home users / friends using, where they still cannot access your server libraries?
