Manual install failure "Operation Failed. Please log in to DSM and try again"

I am attempting to update to the latest version of Plex Media Server, downloaded from the Plex website, when I attempt to do the manual install I consistently receive the error Operation Failed. Please log in to DSM and try again. I have tried completely unistalling Plex from the NAS, doing a NAS reboot and nothing seems to remedy this issue. Any suggestions on ideas to try to get this to work?

I have the latest version of DSM installed. (DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2). Previously manual installation worked fine so I am a bit puzzled.

Server Version#: Version 1.18.5.2309
Player Version#:

Apologies I missed that out. DS 920+

Thank you. Despite using edge or chrome I cannot get a matching SHA-1 checksum, bit unusual!

I got matching SHA01 checksum, however issue still remains.

Logs attached. Thank you again for your support.

If I may jump in?

Are you comfortable using the Linux command line?

If so:

  1. Synology -> Control Panel -> Terminal & SNMP -> Enable SSH
  2. Now, using ssh from a Mac or “Putty” from Windows, open a SSH terminal session to the Synology IP address
  3. Sign in as your username
  4. here is the command line work:
# cd /var/log
# ls

If you see a Plex Media Server.log file,

# cat "Plex Media Server.log"

Now highlight and copy all that text.
Paste it into a text document on your computer (Notepad is best on Windows)

Attach the file here.

Thank you, I will try this.

Plex works fine btw despite the errors you mentioned.

The double NAT issue is something I need to figure out with my ISP as they have provided a ONT router that doesnt seem to have the option enabled to go into bridge mode.

Will do. The uninstall, reboot, reinstall did not work.

I’m starting to think I might just have to live with this strange error. The Plex media server package from the package center works fine albiet an older version.

Seems like this will wipe docker containers as well?

If Docker works as it’s touted to, export the containers before the reset.

After reset, import them back in.

Reinstalled DSM, the issue remains :frowning: quite strange and annoying. I’m going to go back to the previous version of DSM that I am pretty sure had no issues with a plex manual installation and see what happens.

Solved.

No package would install using chrome and I opened a support ticket with Synology to get to the bottom of it. I switched to edge and manually installed no problem.

Thank you again for your support.

Same thing was happening for me. On Mac, uploading the new package with Safari instead of Chrome worked.
