Manual updating not working

Hey guys I have been pretty good at keeping my drobo5n2 upto date on plex as a server.
But currently I cant seem to update to the latest version.
I simply download the file from plex website, drag it to droboapps and paste.
(obviously plex media server is turned off) restart and turn back ON
Didnt update.

current 1.14.1.5488

Dont do it yet. Major issue with new release causing no connectivity to devices.

Thanks for the heads up. Any word on eta? For new update?

Any update on this?
Should I upgrade?

Looks like theirs another update.
And
Still not updating my current version

Has anyone found a solution?

Can anyone help me install the current update to my drobo5n2 via SSH please

You will need to get link to current version for downloads page but here are instructions in this post

Thank you for the reply but I cant even connect to my drobo via ssh.
I type
ssh192.168.1.143 port 22: Connection refused

Hi @quaan I have put together a quick “HowTo” here [HowTo] Manually Install/Upgrade PMS on a Drobo NAS

Also attempting to manually upgrade my Drobo5n2. Following @chrisallen’s HowTo (thanks BTW!), I downloaded the Plex Media Server from https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/ . The file was named ‘plex-2.tgz’, not ‘plex.tgz’.

I renamed the file to be ‘plex.tgz’ and restarted the Drobo. No luck; still on the 1.15 version. Re-downloaded the file leaving the name ‘plex-2.tgz’ and restarted the Drobo. Now I am unable to connect to the Drobo Dashboard (i’ve rebooted my computer as well).

Thoughts?!

Did you read above instructions posted by wingman?
His instructions worked flawless today

Have you tried the SSH Method in my HowTo?

FYI
ssh username@ip address

The username is what you use to login into Drobo software.
When it asks for password just type and hit enter, it may look like nothing is getting typed. (By the way I used windows 10 built in ‘windows power shell’ to use SSH)
IP address is obtained through drobo software under status and network info.
Hope this helps

Did you even read my post??

I haven’t. Terminal isn’t something I’m knowledgeable in.

Using the share method, still doesn’t work for me. I was however finally able to get Drobo Dashboard to work again after my initial manually attempt. My outstanding question is still, why does the file download as ‘plex-2.tgz’ (and should I be renaming it)?

it will generally add the 2 if you already have one downloaded. You can try downloading it to a different directory but no harm in renaming

Hi. There isn’t another plex.tgz file in the folder but file download is Plex-2.tgz
When I reboot the Drobo is not update but Apache is installed, why?
Now I have this version 1.15.6.1079 and it works right but I would like to update.
Any idea or solution? Thanks.

I have attempted to follow your plex update instructions but I am not able to install the update. I have attempted both methods that you posted, the ssh method and the reboot method. The plex app is still an outdated version. Is there something else that I should be doing to make this install properly?
