American Ninja Warrior is giving me fits. If you search TheTVDB.com for “american ninja warrior”, you get three hits:
American Ninja Warrior (Show ID 212411, 2009)
American Ninja Warrior: Ninja vs. Ninja Team Ninja Warrior (Show ID 304813, 2016)
American Ninja Warrior: Ninja vs Ninja (Show ID 343648, 2018)
I have 3 folders setup:
American Ninja Warrior
American Ninja Warrior - Ninja vs. Ninja Team Ninja Warrior
American Ninja Warrior: Ninja vs Ninja (<== This one is giving me problems)
American Ninja Warrior, and Team Ninja Warrior match correctly, however, Ninja vs Ninja (the new 2018 series) won’t match. In the admin site, if I click on “Match…” on the series folder, the correct series never appears. Team Ninja Warrior (2016 series) is displayed as “Ninja vs Ninja”, but the 2018 series is not returned.
Is there a way to link a TV series folder to a particular theTVDB show ID instead of having to go through the search interface?
just include the year each show first aired in the file names…
e.g.
TV Shows > American Ninja Warrior (2009) > Season 01 > American Ninja Warrior (2009) - S01E01.mp4
TV Shows > American Ninja Warrior - Ninja vs. Ninja (2016) > Season 01 > American Ninja Warrior - Ninja vs. Ninja (2016) - S01E01.mp4
TV Shows > American Ninja Warrior - Ninja vs. Ninja (2018) > Season 01 > American Ninja Warrior - Ninja vs. Ninja (2018) - S01E01.mp4
The Plex TV Show scanner considers the year provided this way and the agent sends this information to TheTVDB.com when matching it.
For the 2nd show you don’t have to include the “Team Ninja Warrior” part… this is an alternative title (alias… you can name the folder either American Ninja Warrior - Ninja vs. Ninja (2016) or Team Ninja Warrior (2016)). As the core name of show 2 and 3 matches, you need to include the year!
Thanks for the explanation, however, it still doesn’t seem to work. If I try to manually fix the American Ninja Warrior - Ninja vs. Ninja (2018) folder, the search results don’t even return the correct series. I attached two screenshots to show what I’m seeing
might be too new.
the show first aired on Thursday and from what I remember, Plex is using a proxy database instead of accessing TheTVDB directly. Give it a moment
Plex’s decision to undermine their ONLY TV Show database is coming home to roost. In the old days you just used the name TVDB uses. In the new - not so good old days - you have to inject the (YEAR) field into everything and when that doesn’t work you have to Fix Match and when that doesn’t work… well… you’re kinda on your own, ain’t ya?
This disaster movie was cooked up right here in the Plex Kitchens - when they had to destroy TV Show matching to fix Plex DVR… and now they’re both broke.
