Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D not being detected by PMS, Dropping the H from the title

Hi There,

I’m new here and I’m having a few problems with PMS detecting Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D correctly and pulling the info from TVDB or TMDB.

I can’t manually match it as it comes up saying it can’t find it. When adding it to PMS it displays it as Marvel’s Agents of S I E L D. No matter what I change it to I cannot get it to find a match.

I’ve tried doing the ‘Plex Dance’ and also clearing out the caches for both the TVDB and TMDB but still to no avail. I’ve also restarted the server.

The name of the file i’ve got is Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - S07E01 - The New Deal.mkv. I’ve checked for extra metadata in the file properties but there isn’t any.

The path of the file is /tv/Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D/Season 07/Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - S07E01 - The New Deal.mkv

This is the same file structure I’ve got for all my other TV shows and they are just fine. Just this one that won’t work properly. Any help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Brett

If Season 07 is not working and Season 06 is… that is odd.

If you don’t have Season 06, but are just adding Season 07 - you may need a ‘Fix Match’ (at the show level) - and with a name like that I wouldn’t be surprised.

If you have the whole show and Season 07 is misbehaving - Clear the Agent Caches - your files as structured has you have described (if they are actually as you have described) shouldn’t cause any problems:

If that doesn’t work - try again tomorrow.
The TVDB Plex Proxy might have been sleeping when it should have been updating Season 07. It just showed up at TVDB 2 days ago, but that should have been time enough.

For issues wherein No Match can be found in Search Options - stick this in there in place of the name:

263365

The TVDB ID# (main show page - upper right) is The Nuclear Option when the matching components refuse to cooperate.

Matched automatically.

│ └── Season 07
│ └── Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013) - S07E01 - The New Deal.ts

Yes it’s just Season 7 i’m trying to add. I have all the other series of BluRay so need to have them sitting on my HDD.

That’s just it though there isn’t a ‘Fix Match’ option. It doesn’t match it to anything. Even If I try to put the H back in so the title is Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and do a manual search using either thetvdb or TMDB it comes back with no matches.

I’m at a loss as to what to try next. I’ve tried adding the number 263365 and searching but again it returns ‘NO MATCHES FOUND’. It’s Weird. I’ve tried clearing out all the caches to no avail.

I edited while you were typing:

263365

Stick that in the Name Field.
Erase everything else.

that should do the trick for ‘funny name’ shows and this is one of 'em.

I have tried that and still nothing happens. It’s weird.

That is weird.

Clear the caches.

Can’t hurt - might help.

I’ll edit again while you’re - away:

If you’ve been fiddling with names while Plex has been watching - and when you get back from a cache dump to find it’s still not happy - do this with the whole show:

EVERY STEP
IN ORDER
or it just won’t work.

I’ve just done all that, re-added the folder back into my directory and it’s still finding it as Marvel’s Agents of S I E L D.

A’ight - let’s make it look.

Put in “Marvel’s” and nothing else.

Then in a Hail Mary - change the Agent to TMDB in the Agent Dropdown in Search Options.

If that won’t work - we need more and more smarter support…lol

Can you provide a screenshot of the “Get Info” dialog when it’s being mis-detected? Click the ellipsis in the bottom-right of the episode poster and select “Get Info.” The result will be something like this:

Make sure the “Container” shown is MKV. It is possible to rename MP4 files with a .mkv extension; however, the files are still in an MP4 container and embedded metadata may be used.

If the container is MP4, you’ll need to correct the embedded metadata or reorder your TVDB agent priorities. Or both.

NOPE, still no joy.

I don’t know what else to try.

Here you go Philipsw. I accidentally deleted the season 7 episode 1. got too clicky. OOPS! I’ve downloaded season 1 Ep 1 and this is the container for it.

It shouldn’t be needed for MKVs, but it won’t hurt to try it: Move “Local Media Assets” down in priority for your TVDB agent configuration (if you haven’t already). Settings -> Agents -> Shows -> TheTVDB:

You may need to Dance the show afterward.

@pshanew i have already moved it down. It’s down at the bottom I think. I’m going to try a different Marvel’s Series and see what happens.

Make sure Debug Logging is enabled
Make sure Verbose Logging is disabled.

Plex Dance the misbehaver once more - wait 5 minutes gather the logs and post 'em. Drag and drop the zip.

Does PLEX mind running on a server running a VPN?

I’ve just disabled my VPN and tried to search and it found it straight away doing a match!!!

It was the last thing I hadn’t tried doing.

It’s TV Show - in TMDB’s database like thousands of other TV Shows.
The link above clearly shows it’s TV Show.

There you go.

I use PIA - and use their ‘Exclusions’ to Exclude Plex from it’s ‘protection’ and things work well. Plex doesn’t need VPN protection anyway.

is PIA worth it. I was going to go with them until I saw several YouTube vids advising that that their custoemr service was shocking etc. So I decided to go with ExpressVPN.

TMDB has (some) TV Shows.

In fact, at the first sign of issue - I switch to TMDB - and usually find instant relief from whatever is 'causing pain and suffering at TVDB.

If you go to that link and scroll down a bit you see - Season 07.
Just like a TV Show - 'cause that’s what it is.

If the shoe fits…

If you go to https://www.themoviedb.org/search?query=Agents+of+Shield and see you will see that it does indeed bring it up so it doesn’t matter if using TVDB or TMDB.
