Having issues lately with matching items. It’s not new shows, but some I’ve had for a while, but when I add a new episode, it does not match it correctly.
I know how to fix the match, but I am tired of having to do this all the time, as it’s started to happen more and more.
What can I do to fix this?
Please give some examples with actual file and folder names.
Now that you have proper folder names, perform the Plex Dance with the whole series/tv show at once.
I’ve done this “Plex Dance” several times now, doing everything, cleaning the db, emptying trash etc. It still ends up finding the same wrong one. What else can I do? It’s frustrating every time you update a episode having to manually fix it.
No-one want’s to help?
Sorry, but that is not true. I talked to him in private as I requested to not share it in public. I have hundreds of titles, and the issue is just with 1 or 2, so if I did not know how to do it, it would not work at all.
I have followed that guide, as well as the so called “plex dance” to clean things up. Sadly a few items still remain an issue.
Sorry, but I do not see how that helps. I think anyone who can read, can understand how to do this. It is clearly explained in the guide you are linking to, so the specific name does not matter, it is irrelevant to this discussion when the issue is it does not work properly.
But I can give you an example, as you have from the Link you shared, where they use Greys Anatomy as an example.
Main folder - Grey’s Anatomy (2005)
Sub folder - Season 1
File name - Grey’s Anatomy - s01e01.avi
I have even tried to incorporate the date to the file name, does not change anything (As well as doing the so called “plex dance”. The issue is that there are shows which use the same name, and often it will take a show that is older.
And please, keep in mind as I already stated above, if I did it wrongly, then ALL of them would be wrong, it would not be 1 or 2 out of 100 for example.
I do not have an answer for you other than I feel your pain.
It has gotten worse over the past few months.
It is even different among different servers.
I have 3 different servers (2 on Macs and 1 on Win 10) and 1 Mac has matched the original Lost in Space (1965) properly but the other Mac and Windows machine has combined the entire series with Lost in Space (2018).
All three are looking at the exact same files, in the same file structure, with the drives mapped the same.
You would think they would all match them the same - and be consistently right or wrong.
Nope.
I have other examples with other TV Shows and movies but I just accept the fact that after almost a decade of using Plex (and the large majority of my library - 2000+ movies and 10000+ TV episodes - being matched correctly) that I am an idiot and I do not know how to names/organize my media.
It’s a shame that they don’t want to support it better for paying customers.
