Matching Issue - Series 1

Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#: 4.66.1

Odd issue that I am banging my head against where a TV series will not automatch properly but instead appear as “Name: Series 1”. I’ll use an example for the detail below but I see the issue for a small but significant percent of my library of TV Shows.

TV show is called Zapped and appears in Plex as below with the individual seasons correctly seperated:

Zapped: Series 1

Folder structure uses the current Plex convention:

/Zapped! (2016)
/Season 01
Zapped-s01e01-blahblah.mp4
Zapped-s01e02-blahblah.mp4

/Season 02
Zapped-s02e01-blahblah.mp4
Zapped-s02e02-blahblah.mp4

/Season 03
Zapped-s03e01-blahblah.mp4
Zapped-s03e02-blahblah.mp4

If I manually match, the correct entry is the first one in the list as expected but I am trying to avoid that. The folder name matches the TVDB detail as required but I am also trying to avoid manually adding the TVDB ID if possible. It just feels like a hokey workaround.

Has anyone else seen this issue and able to point me in the direction of a stupid error I have made?

Thanks,

Dean

Sounds like an issue of embedded metadata.
If so you can either remove (or fix) the metadata before adding your files to Plex or disable the option to prefer embedded metadata in the advanced library options.

Thanks Tom. That seems like a sensible suggestion.

As I’ve no valuable local metadata, I have unselected the embedded metadata option as you described and unselected the Local Media Asset option for the server settings for the agents.

I’ve now rescanned the library files (and pushed a refresh of all metadata for the library) but the impacted folders are still unmatched.

Any further ideas on this one?

Try performing the Plex Dance procedure for those shows.

Thanks Tom. I always hope that there will be a more seamless way of achieving the same outcome but you are quite correct. Playing Hokey Cokey with the folders has done the trick.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
