There are a few quirks with QNAP.
-
CodexPack is QNAP proprietary and doesn’t work well with anything except QNAP’s software.
-
Any
dot
named folder will be deleted by QTS when the corresponding software is removed.dot
folders are Linux’s “hidden” folders and shouldn’t be used by users. -
Use the real shared folder names when you’re working with Plex, e.g.
– /share/Movies
– /share/TV
– /share/Music
– /share/HomeMovies
– /share/Photos -
Plex allows you to add multiple folders to a library section, For example. Let’s say you curate your media by age. You might have a TV shared folder, sub subfolders for each decade, and then your shows under each appropriately.
- /share/TV/1980s
- /share/TV/1990s
- /share/TV/2000s
- /share/TV/2010s
- /share/TV/2020s
-
Now, let’s suppose, you want to create one TV library section.
All you need to do is create one TV library section and add each of these 5 top level folders to the TV Library section definition (“Add Folders” tab)
( Here, I group mine differently but this shows how to add multiple locations … on a different server platform )
-
If you push the grouping down , you run the risk of things being misidentified.
The structure to use is :<top_level_directory>/SeriesName/Season xx/......
There’s a lot to learn but it’s easy if you play with it.
Here’s the QNAP FAQ.
Of importance to your question, I recommend looking at:
