Media Server Can't Enable Remote Access

I’ve recently moved in to an apartment that provides hotel-style wifi (I am not allowed to bring in my own router), and I believe this wifi might be the reason I cannot enable Remote Access at all. When I do try, I am able to get the green “Fully accessible” prompt for 10-15 seconds before it goes back to the red “Not available”. I can still stream to my TV (which is within this home network).

Is there a way to work around this wifi and enable Remote Access? I have friends and family who use my server and it would be very helpful.

I think the only way would be “indirect” (= relayed via Plex servers/services) but that is limited in bandwidth or something (2Mbps ?)
Without the ability of configuring a port-mapping there is no way for “Direct Access” (=best performance) from Internet to your Plex server.

Are you sure your loosing remote access.
That remote indicator is just that… sometimes it shows red because of network congestion.
Normally I just ignore it until I get a text that a user can’t connect., And that usually the Plex.TV API issues.
I just use my phone and turn off the wifi to test.

This sounds similar to the issue i have.

I have never even tried remote access, but recently i have the need for it. I tried using this at a another property and it says I can’t connect remotely. I’m experiencing the same issue. I will get the prompt saying “fully accessible” for 1-15 seconds and then the prompt “Not available outside your network”.

I’m wondering where to start with this to try and troubleshoot. Unfortunately I do NOT have access to my router as it is a closed control4 setup in my home.
