I’m able to see the app listing in settings under “Show system apps” but otherwise I’m having the exact same problem. If I try to open Plex Media Server from the settings menu, it briefly shows the screen telling you to use the Plex for Android app before crashing
I really don’t want to perform a factory reset especially since it doesn’t seem like even that would help. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?
It’s been an ongoing issue. It’s definitely not just you. I’m not great at tech stuff, which is why I bought the pro. It’s so frustrating. I’ve been using KODI to watch content on my external drive as a work around but…yeah, I’m not thrilled ATM.
Deactivate Auto Updates, then goto Setup/ Apps/ Systemapps/ Plex Media Server and use deinstall.
Now there should be a working very old Plex Media Server.
After all personal settings reinstall with last working Server Version 1.40.4.8679 apk from APKmirror.
Just gave this a try. Seemed to be working, so I stopped the server to restore the database from backup (as per the instructions) but after I moved the files it wouldn’t wouldn’t start the server again. When I tried turning it back on from the Plex settings, it would show a loading indicator and then nothing would happen. I tried rebooting my shield and the server no longer shows up in the settings just like before.
That’s mine. It was apparently a permissions issue with my profile (missing crown on the profile picture). @bernardoghazi fixed it (thank you!), but ~2 months later PMS broke again and the options/settings underneath “Settings > Plex Media Server” disappeared (different from my original, rarer issue, where the entire “Plex Media Server” row including the “Plex Media Server” heading disappeared). Reinstalled PMS, issue persisted. Removed PIN, options/settings reappeared but PMS stopped after changing storage location. Restarted Shield, PMS resumed but options/settings disappeared again. Reconfigured PIN, options/settings reappeared.
