Media Server Vanished

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6106-7000
Player Version#: N/A

I’ve been happily using Plex Media Server via a Synology NAS for many years, and last week it just suddenly vanished.

I can no longer play my local media via my Apple TV, a local web client, nothing - it just doesn’t see the Media Server. I login to my NAS, check the Server - it’s there. I’ve updated it - it’s there. I click through to the web player from the NAS … it says “Get Plex Media Server”. What!?

Has anyone else experienced this!? What’s going on?

So, I just reclaimed my server. I had to go to the Plex Media Server on my NAS via the local LAN IP, and was then able to reclaim it and login.

Seems this issue has been created because of the recent Plex password compromise.

I can now see my local media files again! Woohoo! Would have been nice to have better instructions - ANY instructions - from Plex on this, why am I paying for a monthly subscription again!?

It’s actually specifically mentioned in the guide linked in the password reset mail and announcement. If you opt to sign-out all clients when resetting your password, this will include your server… therefore you have to reclaim it (procedure is included in the linked guide too → access the server through its local IP address from with in the same subnet; reclaim).

Oh! Well our mistake. It was obviously made crystal clear, which is why people are creating random scripts to help resolve it.

As a reference for anybody else finding this thread in search to fix a potentially unclaimed server as part of their password reset:
