My Plex Media Server runs automatically on Windows startup. But when I run the Plex for Windows app, my cast device is unavailable (‘No players found’). However, if I acess this app from the Plex Media Server icon (right click → Open Plex …), my cast device appears on the list. (See the screenshots attached.)
I don’t mind accessing my cast device this indirect way, but it raises the question of what the purpose of this stand-alone Win app is since everything can be done and accessed within the Plex Media Server app. I tried reading this thread - The difference between plex app and plex media server - Plex Media Server / Desktops & Laptops - Plex Forum, but got more confused.
