My Server has been updating metadata in the TV Shows folder for EVER. Every Day I stop the server and Restart it. I noticed that it always gets stuck on “This Is Us” (multiple episodes).
Then I noticed in the Library that I have 2 “This Is Us” TV shows. One has the 6 Seasons and One has 23 Seasons, although none are viewable.
I Moved all of my TV Shows to a Temp Directory. Emptied the Trash and Rescanned. Still have the same issue when I put all back.
When I removed the TV Show Library from Plex and then recreated it. I have a different issue. No Files are in the directory, but A 1 Season Series (11.22.63) shows up and it says it has 23 seasons. When I look at the activity in the Plex player it says it’s updating meta data for all of the TV shows I had but the directory is still empty.
Is this fixable or do I need to do a complete uninstall and Reinstall? I tried restoring the database already, but still no luck.
For shows that have numbers as the title like your example or numbers as the show title it can get tricky. Those numbers can be mistaken by the scanner as the season or episode number
An example of how the files are named and organized would help
The Folder is a Root Folder “RecordedTV”. All shows are below that.
I’ve had this structure for years and I haven’t added anything to it in about a year. This just started maybe a couple of weeks ago.
Strange thing is. I deleted the Library. The folder is Empty and it’s still trying to update 1 Show. This show only has about 12 Episodes, but it is showing several hundred
Can you show us what you’re actually pointing to? The only time I’ve ever seen Plex do what you’re describing was when I had accidentally pointed the library at folders other than the one intended. And like you said, it would then get confused and scan forever and show almost everything under the same show.
I’ll add 3 pics. One thing I’m now wondering about this the snapshot folder I have in there (put there by snapshot replication service). I may need to delete all of the snapshots? I guess it could be scanning those, but they have been there more than a year an haven’t been an issue.
