Meta Data downloading but not posters

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488 (Synology NAS)
Plex Media Server Logs_2019-01-27_12-22-41.zip (36.2 KB)

All meta data comes down, minus poster. (i.e. have director, cast, description, rotten tomato score, etc)

Created a library with one movie in it to help try to figure this out.
Tried a number of remedies listed in forums. Deleted cache folders, fiddled with agent settings. Disabled firewall, rebooted modem/routers. Not sure where failure is occurring; any advice would be awesome.

update: UPnP is enabled, but noticed my server not accessible outside local network. Probably smoking gun right here. The plex server should punch through with no additional configuration, yes?

Not available outside your network
Enable to access your server from anywhere.ENABLE REMOTE ACCESS
Private 192.168.1.130 : 32400 Public 142.218.137.152 : 32400

Added manual portforwarding in router, now server is accessible from internet though still didnt solve my poster issue. After the router reconfiguration, i deleted all the logs/plugin support caches and triggered a redownload of the meta data. Attached new logs.

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-01-27_13-35-14.zip (38.1 KB)

IPv6 also disabled
No double NAT type situation as far as i can tell.

Agent: Plex Movie,
I have also tried changing the library to use the Movie Database, but didnt make a difference. Still no movie posters, just random still image from movie.

Control Panel - Shared Folders - EDIT the Plex share - Make sure your username has R/W access.

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Open the Plex share in File Station
  3. Drill down into Plex Media Server / Plug-in Support / Caches
  4. Remove everything you see there.
  5. Start Plex
  6. Force “Refresh all metadata” for the library section missing posters, one at a time and allow to complete.
  7. If still missing them, Collect the full set of logs (Server- Download Logs)
  8. Attach the ZIP it provides you.

Logs attached. I’ve created a library with only one movie in it hoping to get to the root of the issue quicker.

Are you being actively selective about what I see and the structure it’s presented in?

I would prefer to see all the files because I cannot track this error into the other logs as I normally would.

Hi Chuck, thx for reply. Not being selective. Was nuking log folder prior to a “Refresh all metadata” hoping to isolate the relevant logs.

Fresh install. Uninstalled previous. Deleted plex share folder AND plex user. Manually installed latest plex server for synology NAS ( 1.14.1.5488 )
Pointed server towards a library with a single movie in it for simplicity sake. Attached are logs from fresh install through addition of new library.

Thanks.

I see now.

Do you have your own Cert in the system there either on the machine or the machine as part of a certificated domain?

PMS can’t communicate with plex.tv for the secured posters.

Curl error 35 - SSL error.

The other is that you have DNS Rebinding protection active. In your modem/router add an exception to allow *.plex.direct private domain.

All that went over my head  I’m a fairly casual user so setting up any cert environment isn’t something i’ve done. The ds918+ comes with a Synology issued certificate but i’m not thinking this is the issue. PMS on Synology is a basic install. This all sort of just worked up until recently and as far as i know, nothing has changed locally. in the router, i dont see any area to add exceptions for DNS Rebindng (TL-R600VPN), though as mentioned, this all seemed to work until recently. I appreciate the help.

i’m running a batch with FileBot; Its pulling artwork down from The MovieDatabase and stuffing the art into each of the local folders. i guess i can just use the local files since i’m scratching my head here with the PMS not being able to pull the same art from the same source. hmmm

What is your renaming template? {plex}?

defaults to:

Movies/{n} {y}/{fn}

defaults to:
Movies/{n} {y}/{fn}

Should be: Movies/{n} ({y})/{n} ({y})

All names come out perfectly as:

Tootsie (1982)/
Top Gun (1986)/
Transformers (2007)/
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (2009)/
Transporter 2 (2005)/
Transporter 3 (2008)/
TRON (1982)/
Troy (2004)/

with each file named the same with extension added.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem running Plex on my DS918+
All data is pulled down, only the movie poster, actor pictures are missing.

If I install Plex on my PC everything is working fine, so is not a network/router issue I guess.

Same for me, has been going on for a while now, all data except for posters is being downloaded, I get the 408 error after a curl 28.

I’ve seen this post so far: Plex Troubleshoot AGAIN: NOT pulling in METADATA & Posters for Movies [UNSOLVED]

Having the same issue.
Synology DS218+, latest firmware

Tried all the fixes I have read:

Doing the steps through Plex itself, didn’t help.
SSH into the files and cleared out the cache, didn’t help.

Not sure the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

To all having this problem in this thread. I need to see the agent logs as well as the PMS logs.

This is best achieved by:

  1. Settings - Server - General: DEBUG logging ON, VERBOSE logging OFF
  2. Refresh the metadata for the Library section or items missing information.
  3. Wait for it to complete
  4. When enough time has passed (remember, metadata is a background task):
  5. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
  6. Attach the ZIP file it gives you.
