Proper naming conventions used, still unable to match some episodes?

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252

Hi. I’m experiencing an issue with Plex in which it does not seem to match some episodes from my hard drive to their counterparts on thetvdb. I have double-checked to make sure I have used Plex’s naming conventions for Standard, Season-Based Shows exactly as described. What I am getting is some episodes matched properly, and others that simply have the “Episode #” as the title. Once I click on the pencil to edit the episodes that only have the episode number as the title, I discover that all the other information is missing too; the title, release date, description, rating, studio, etc. None of it is there. I have double checked to make sure that both the episodes on thetvdb are in DVD order, and so are the ones on my hard drive. I have tried scanning the library, as well refreshing the metadata with the same results. I have posted a video chronicling my issue.

Frequently the people who INSIST their naming is correct have the weirdest file naming. But I agree, your naming looks good.

I made some test files. My experience matches yours. It’s not just you.

Using Aired order they match and get metadata.

With DVD order something isn’t right. I see the same problems with the same episodes.

I’m not sure if it’s an issue in the Plex metadata layer (maybe) or a problem with TheTVDB alternate order (also maybe).

I checked, and there’s no DVD order at TMDB, or I would suggest trying that.
